I'm making this topic as a place to discuss the Golden Sun Syndicate top posters discussion. Basically anything concerning who coming first (me, bahaha *cough*) and where you're at. Don't spam it please, just normal discussion about who's where, where you would like to be, why you;re dropping etc. etc. Let me start by saying that the top 10 has changed dramatically over the past month or 2, heaps of newer members are pushing the older members out ^_^ .

Anyway, I'm not really a top "dog" in posting, since, for one thing, I don't seem to have enough time to do anything, and another is that there really isn't anything interesting to talk about when you've settled some conversations.

^ Agreed. My highest rank ever was Fourth, with Izar, MysticWarrior, and of course, Agatio (surprise ^_^) above me, in terms of post numbers. I believe now I am roughly eighth place (EDIT: I checked, and eighth it is).

When I first joined, I was posting crazily. It was more than just my obsession with Golden Sun. All the members here seemed so kind and interesting, I really wanted to establish myself as more than a “n00b”.

By the way, I joined in the wee old days, many moons past where Agatio had roughly 500 or so posts :blink: It’s interesting, I thought I never would be able to surpass that amount, but here I am.

But I digress: It’s NOT about how much you post (not too much, at least), it’s how you represent yourself and the ideas you offer. Let’s consider Agatio’s point that more and more members are joining, and becoming active. Then is a crucial period that will ultimately decide how others will view you…

And I’ve found some of the most trustworthy people and true friends here -_-

A brief list (I am typing this at 1:AM in the morning – PLEASE do not get frustrated if I do not mention you)
ForteGX, Sheba, Linear, Piers DM, Silo, Izar, Isaac_Zero 2, and more.

ULTIMATELY, here is where I stand: I certainly don’t have the fervor of old, and I doubt I ever will (until/if a Golden Sun 3 is announced, but even so…)… However, I’ve posted lots, met some of the most heartwarming people ever, and THAT is what I have gained, and I will be forever grateful -_-

I might have made it onto that list if I still went on AIM (Get MSN Golden Legacy!!!).

When I first joined way back in early Febuary, people like Shikonaurum, Danska: Shadow Master, Bill, Sheba, Colonel Tycho, Julian, MysticWarrior, and Dullahan (who became Eugine), were the active members of this place.

In my first day I think I got 30 posts just so I could become a squire. And that posting pattern didn't stop until I was over 500 posts. But I didn't stop there (I became the top poster at 250 posts, being the first user to become a Chaos Lord (the highesr rank back then).

And the rest is history, after that, no one got to number 1 ^_^ . But I think I put CT off this place after that, as he was the top poster before me.. Although there was a time when someone (I think it was mystic) was 80 posts behind me,

i only joined about three weeks ago but im makng good progress i think...although this is my first forum so i ont really know...i'd like to get higher up the table but who knows if i'll manage it...i have my sights firmly set on becoming a slayer for the time being...maybe in a few months i'll be a real high flyer ^^

I lurk, and post when I find something that I really want to post in. So, in comparasin to most other regular visitors, I don't have all that much posts.

But I don't really care about the amount of posts I have on my post count-- it's just a nifty little feature. I would care more if there were a reasonable (glances at Max) amount you have to reach to get a custom title, but since there isn't, I don't mind.

Once I reached top 5 (in about 3 months) I haven't dropped from it.

I just post in topics I can be helpful with (As well as my moderator duties) and I really don't seek out posting opertunities.

In about 2 months (about) when I got in top fifteen I sped up a bit, because I wanted to be top ten (stupid me). Now that I am ninth I don't reallly care about post count. I shouldn't of in the first place.

When I first joined I posted a lot in a short space of time, but then I just suddenley stopped. I will check these forums every time i'm online but i'll be lucky if I post 10 times in a week none of the topics interest me hardly.

Most of the members who would post regularly and to a high quality have left and as Agatio has said have been replaced by new members who post consistently.

True. Have a lok at the top 10, about half the members on there have only been on these forums a few months. Whereas the more originaly members, who have been here 8,9, or 10 months, are slipping back. Not that I care, I will always be number 1!!!! *cough*

Well, I've always been a slower poster. . . my goal back when I joined was to be in the top ten, I was there at one point. Now I just post wherever. I'm not leaving anytime soon.

That 1000 post mark is just gold for some members; even me. Yet, I have such a long way to go, even so I might not reach 1000 until, maybe, the middle of May of 2005. Depending on how much I post outside of the Spam/Testing forum.

Well, I guess I'm gonna work a little more harder this time around ... unless the sinister school district of mine catches up to me ... *shudder*

EDIT: Oh, by the way. I was informed that both my Zaffa Dot Xom account and this one reach to at least 900 some posts combined, so, I may be a little closer to my goal than I expected. I don't want to mention this publicly, but, if Max were to combine both accounts together ...

Shouldn't have changed accounts then Silo, you wouldn't have made a problem. 1000 is very easy to achieve. A few people here made it to 1000 in just a few months.

HA Lin is slowly rising and if Agatio doesn't watch out we might have a new leader on are hands. Anyways I admit at the beginning I was trying to post as often as I could to keep my post count up. Iam still going but I stoped trying to be the best and just hang with the rest.

I joined back in March, and I've never posted a LOT, (I think the most in one day was about 32 posts because I was bored and decided I wanted to get #1 poster for that day, which I think I succeeded in doing) I only post about 1-3 times a day now, but I'm still fairly regular. the highest rank I ever got (in the top ten posters, that it) is 11th I think , but that was pretty short lived, and I don't really care. so overall, I really don't think post count matters much at all.

PS. Agatio needs only more post to have 3333. that's pretty awesome...... lots of 3's........

I post mainly in topics I'm interested in. When I first joined GSA (not GSS, but GSA), I posted in every topic pretty much because I had an interest in every topic. I got 300 posts in a matter of a few months, and if you were to count the posts in off topic, it would be 700-1000. But, after GSA, I kinda "burnt out" and so, I have lost interest in the many topics I used to always post in. GS topics to name one, which I have not posted in in probably a year. I just ended up sticking around GS forums because I enjoy the people who come here and find chatting is still a nice experience, even in off topic.

I agree with the loss of interest in the GS topics, havn't posted there in many months now. Lately, my posting has become a bit more active, as I wanted to get 1000 posts up from MW, who is second, then I can take a break for a bit, then try hard to get to 5000 so I can have a custom title.

yeah thats true - i got sucked into the spam forum to begin with and that was ok cos i made a lot of friends quickly - but over the last week i've really delved into the other areas and i've increased my post count very quickly - well i think so

Thats always a good sign. The spam forum is bad for 2 reasons:

-Posts don't count
-Too much random crap in there.

For new people coming into the forum I think it will be difficult for them to bring there post count up since we did answer mostly all the questions that was in TLA and GS.

True. Those forums are pretty much dead now, not many new topcs being started. GS and TLA are past their used by dates now.

You know people can be mature in situations that tell them to be mature. Just ask people when they post in your topic to be serious and don't post garbage. If you ask them that normally they will respond back with infomative posts. Now I don't think people here post to much spam. I know in my days I used to be one of these people(I might still be one) but with time people can learn.

No one said that it was garbage. How many times you post outside the "evil" spam forum doesnt bother much anywho. (unless you spam outside...). That's exactly the same here. If I just wanted to post for the sake of getting 5000, I would go through the artwork and literature forums and post to everyones topic "wow, that was really good d00d" (like so many people do), then I would go through all the GS and TLA topics and post there aswell. But, I just couldn't care less. Sure, I'm posting more these days, but I won't take it to the extreme where I post purely to get a higher post count.

Well, think about it logically.

-20 posts a day,
-140 posts a week,
-560 posts a month.

Any active member can reach it in around 8-9 months.

It all really depends on how much you post. And that depends on what forums you post in. I don't post in the GS, TLA, or GSW boards, so I won't reach it as fast as I could, but really, it's only a couple of months away for me, tops.

Owell I reached 5500 on one of the GSR boards in 6 months but I was really really really active.

The official GSR boards have been alive for 3 years now and the member who has the most posts has around 3500. So I don't know, just seems a bit unrealistic to me. =/

What did I do? I just post whenever I get the chance to get on the computer.
But I guess you can say I'm just keeping up once in a while. (I think someone needs the new title in the most active now)

My post wasn't meant to be offense Lin. Iam just saying that it took you only 4 months to be in the top three. I guessing in another four months and that you keep your rate of posts per day you should be able to hit 5000 posts.

Getting 100 posts in 1 day is easy. Getting a few hundered in a week is easy. Getting to 1000 in 1 month is no great task, really. But after 1000, you get a little tired of posting, and start posting is less areas. It happens to everyone.

I see the Spam/Testing fourm as a way to cool down now. I mean, if you're satisfied now for the day after posting a lot, you can head down there and get random.

There have been a lot of people abusing the Spam forum for what it's supposed to be. I mean, back in the day, I've used it too much that I've been seen as a bad moderator ... so says a certain individual. *cough*Agatio*cough*

And I also used my moderator powers to pin topics that seem to be more active than the others, but I learned that the hard way. Right now, I'm just trying to fulfill (sp?) my duty, all the while getting to 1000.

Is this true do I actually agree with Agatio. Silo and FGx used to pin useless topics but they grew past that. People cough because it shows what there saying under their breath. It's just a fun way of speaking.

I never saw myself as anyone, who wanted to make friends by posting much. being kind and trustworthy makes you a way better friend then showing your online 24/7. as you can see in my profile, I am a member for quite long, but still happen to have a very low post count. mostly due to my long absence and un-regular visits. I got some friends along the way of posting, and watching, and I felt they were real friends. I knew they would be the same it I met them in real-life. unfortunatly, I think most of the members here have forgotten about me when I went away. but since I am back, ready to roll back into your lives, beware :unsure:

I have been in the top 10 posters for some time, somewhere in the beginning. when I just joined, my post-count went up quite fast. but I stopped around 250, and slowed down. that remained the same, still now, as I am back, I don't plan on posting like a mad-man. :unsure:

Yes that's true. I do browse around other sections of the forum though. It's just I don't have anything relevant to add to them.

I'm not really big on post count. I do sometimes like to compare at my main forums just for fun or to play around. The largest amount of posts I have at 1 forum is 5747 and 1896 on another account at the same forums (got accidently deleted). That's at one of the GSR forums ofcourse (well the only one now since the other one has unfortunately been destroyed). Other than that, I don't have more than 600 posts at any other forums. But I still visit them, browse around and post from time to time.

You know, you can decide to act mature or complain about past events. It's up to you, and I'm fine with whatever you choose, unless it's a sign of flaming. Do we pin topics needlessly now? No. Do you predict that the future will come with more needlessly pinned topics? Try again. Are we the worst moderators on this forum? There are others that we have to pay attention to, as well, and it makes our job move more fluidly.

Anyway, going back on-topic, I usually spread out through the forums and find anything that I believe that I can definately answer or talk about. Well if you have a complaint I think it's best to pm a moderator instead of posting it in public about it. It's the most sensible thing to do since it would further less complications and problems rather than having on going arguements involving the whole forum.

Well I think since this was FGX first Mod duty at this forum I don't balme him for making mistakes. To learn you might have to make a few mistakes right? We have all gone through the newbish postion when we first got here. Post everywhere at anytime when you have the opportunity to do so.

Really? Everyone has there own opinions but I think Silo does a good enough job. Agatio would be a sick mod to but isn't 6 enough.(Or is there 5 mods?)

There are currently six, but AveneR only moderates the GSW forums, Julian isn't very active, and MW's mysteriously disappeared (probably playing Maple Story). So it's mostly Nick, Silo and I.

Julian and Mystic Warrior are very inactive lately. They come on, but I havn't really seen them "modding" as such. AveneR also hardly comes on, and only mods 4 boards. It's mainly Nick1Presta, ForteGX, and Silo STATIC modding lately. But it's not like we're majorly active. As for me replacing Silo, he's an ok mod lately, I don't think he should be removed. He needs to take a break from these forums, as he's been on a LOT lately, and chill out. But aside from that, he's an ok moderator.. I would love to be a moderator here. I missed out on the last 2 mod selections (Izar & Nick and Forte & Silo), but the next time there is a position available, I would be more than happy to fill it.

Besides, it's not like GSSF is majorly underhanded. And since Max's on vacation, Nick's temporarily in charge since he's the most experienced of the (active) moderators; well, at least that's what I think.

I agree, I don't just post somewhere I have no interest simple to gain posts. Seen me posting in the GS, TLA or GSW forums? Not once (ok, I posted in the GSW forums twice in the last week). But you get the idea, I don't post in the artwork forum either much anymore, my art topic died, and I'm not the kind of person who would go to every topic and say the same thing: "Wow, thats really good art dude, keep it up!", like some people do. I also don't post in the literature forum, and hardly in the other games forum. But, I've totally over-emphaised my point here.

Then again, on a forum in which all moderators have global moderation powers, if you're less active than the others, it's hard to moderate things. Most issues on a board like GSS are taken care of the day that they happen because any of the several moderators can get to it.

No offense in saying this and all, but you guys are having a argument about something that shouldn't even be discussed. Flaming isn't a wise choice either. (Even though your not going to). So what if MW is out playing Maple Story? It's his choice if he wants to drop his job in being a mod.

And the reason why "I'm in charge" is because, as trivial as it may seem, I take this stuff seriously and I want to take a leader role here and pull things together.

The way you present yourself online portrays how you act (or want to act) in real life. I have self-respect and I try to maintain that respect on these forums towards others.

If you feel that you are at a loss of respect somewhere, than say so in a polite manner. You don't have to like someone (you can even hate them) but you do have to respect them.

And if you don't like it, then too damn bad. It's the way life works. If you have a problem with someone, you either clear it up, or avoid it. You don't pretend to forget and egg each other on at every turn.

This isn't going to anyone in paticular, just in general. Just get along, or don't get together. Simple as that.

I agree with every work Nick just said, though I don't always act on it, which is a major flaw of mine. Now, let's please just get back to posting, and not moderators. Because anyone who has been here a while knows that topics about Moderators always get out of hand, similar to topics that invlove rating other forum members. We all know people here don't like some of the other members here (me included obviously), but a sign of maturity is being ablue to hold back, and think before you post. Think about who your directing it at, think about the consequences.

In any case, once the influx of new DS games arrives, the Other Games forum will hopefully become more active than ever; meaning more opportunities for posting and discussion. And regarding the Artwork forum; I do agree that sometimes the topics get clogged with a bit too much praise; sometimes I don't even notice pieces because of all the "Nice work!"s and "That's awesome!"s.

I hardly even Watch the spam topic these days. mainly the Off topic, Artwork and Fanfiction are the forums I read. and then I don't post in every topic, only on replies that are directed to me (which is very rare) and topics that I really feel like posting at. like this one. when I have something on my shoulders, I post it somewhere (sometimes other sites and forums) to get some releave from the replies. w/o forums I'm not much you know, they are the only place where you can tell everything about yourself, about your family, and still stay anonymous.

Well, right now, this is my 1000th post, even though some people might not care. So much has happened to me these last 999 posts, from becoming a moderator, to improving my status, and to just being who I really am. Even if the forums are going to recount the posts soon, I'll never forget this day, when I've made it to the big ones. I give credit mostly to Agatio, who has not really astounded me with his 3,000+ post streak (comparing it to the big guys with the 100,000+ posts in AnimeLeague), but has given me inspiration to get to where I am right at this very moment. I also give credit to the regular members here, too, who've also gotten to the same point in their time being here at GSSF.

I hope I'm not gloating. I'm rather a bit excited, but not terribly devoted. Just having to get 1000 posts in this past year is a rather refreshing value. You can read more about this here.
