The following MOD is one in which post count is not raised if a short post is made. This will insure spam isn't given a post credit and it should motivate people to post messages a bit longer.

    http://mods.invision...ndex.php/f/4113

Hopefully most of the members will agree with this MOD and Max will promptly install it ^_^

I think this would be a great MOD!

Except that the fact that people might spam out of the testing forum, because they know it won't increase their count.

I guess I am just in the middle of it. I am not for it, nor against it.

I fully support this Idea, it will really enforce the rules against spamming. Is there anyway to stop short posts from being posted in the first place though?

But you have to admit, someone might think "It doesn't increase my post count, It won't hurt if I cut it at that." Or something like that. Or, I guess it could work..

Well, I think any post 7 words or under, should not be allowed to be posted.
THAT would stop short posts. And then another mod the stops double posts would be good aswell.

Sounds kinda cool, but I have a feeling that there will be problems.

While an interesting concept, I don't think it will really deter people. There is a mod I saw when I was browsing mods a week or so ago that stopped the post process altogether and made the user add more to his/her post before it would be submitted. I'd rather do something like that because it will flat out now allow short posts.

I think I know how to limit the accidental "cloned" double posts: would turning flood control to one second help?

Anyway, I don't know if this modification (the one this topic was made about) would help, or make it worse. ppl might post one-word posts that don't count more often for attention while not raising thier post count.

The one that max just talked about does sound like a good idea. But Max, do you know if it affects chosen forums, or the entire board? I am not sure that it is a good idea for the SPAM forum ,but it sounds a great idea for all of the other forums. But that is just my opinion about it.

Gimli the flood control was on before, and the accidental double posts were happening.

Other then that, the one Max saw is kind of like the one at the forums my sister goes to. It makes you have more then ten characters, though, so it wouldn't be that useful.

I didn't find any hardcore information on the link, but can you set the limit for short words (5 or less) and can you designate which forum(s) they apply to?

                      If so, then install ASAP.

Sheesh, read posts people. The MOD makes it so post count does not increase if the post is too short. The spam forum doesn't even raise post count, so it wouldn't make a difference if it was on.

And Max, you will need to request that MOD at Invisionize, as it is only available for IPB 1.1 :S

And a note: There is a MOD for stopping double posts. http://mods.invision...ndex.php/f/3532
EDIT: I would believe the MOD would allow for the adjustment of number of words and/or amount of letters.
