I really would like to see a Golden Sun world where it was more of an interpretation of our world, something that constantly felt "with the times" in as many ways as possible. My idea is, make a world that has seasons that correspond with ours.

I'm not sure what you guys are programming GSW in, but if its C++, then there should definately be a way to look at a PC's clock and date. Based on that, you could have alternate settings. The ground would turn white in winter, as the building roofs would be covered in snow. In spring, everything would have that amplified color look from those Clariton adds. In summer, everything would be normal, and in fall, everything would be a bit more grey, with barely any shadows from the overcast skies.

Blink meant that when it's winter, it should have snow, and when it's fall, the main theme should be orange ect on the map that disaplays...I think.

Yeah, that's basically what he said. That would be a pretty cool idea, but there's already a lot of work that Max and the others are putting in to GSW. A season routine would take quite some time to add...

Im not so sure it would be all that hard to add. If I know anything about programming, its that the web has a lot of useful premade lines of code, and "everything is numbers" as in, all objects and images are given a number to identify it as. If I'm right, there should be a code along the lines of(but not nearly as simple as):

Upload image "Grass.jpg",1

and it should be simple enough(not sure again) as:

if *insert time coding* = 12/01-03/01 then upload image "Snow.jpg",1 else upload image "Grass1.jpg"

and that would cover pretty much all I want. I'll post the code for it in C++ later if I can find it

Edit: Found it, this should help a whole lot with this. Oh, and if dates are too hard, maybe just a night day system?

I hate to break it to you Blink, but coding just isn't that simply. And we are not using C++, but Actionscript (Flash). Seasons is an interesting idea, but if we were to add that to GSW it would not be until much later versions.

ActionScrip in flash? wow, I guess that makes sense. I've just never seen an online community through flash before. Oh well, it still sounds like a good idea.

Back on topic, if your using flash coding, then, it really isn't that simple to do I guess. I use BASIC for my games when I can, and it's not nearly as limited as flash in my opinion. Maybe it is a lot harder to incorperate that, but I'll still look into it.

N'other edit: Here's some actionscript help on dates, and there should be a way to use that to your advantage with this. I'll post anything else I can to help.

Blink, I said it was harder than you realized, not that I couldn't do it. Both AveneR and I are very experienced with Actionscript and could pretty easily implement seasons, but it isn't even close to the top of our to-do list at this point.

Thanks, I appreciate the effort. I was just trying to let you know that, while we appreciate you trying to help, we are more than capable of handling this. If we weren't, then there wouldn't be a GSW in the first place.

Heh, I take on projects that I later realize I can't handle some times. Mainly since I get increasing amounts of schoolwork. But they certainly never get this big. Anyways, let me know if I can help in any way. As a fellow game designer, I certainly understand how things can sometimes just come to a stand still in designing, and then those games get left in the dust. I would never want that to happen to the idea of GSW, but I think its too far into development to happen anyways.

Thanks for your suggestions, Blink but technically, Max and I have enough knowledge to get this game finished within a month if we could work on it full-time. But unfortunately, that's not how it works in real-life. There are just so many other things sucking up our time, that it's becoming harder and harder to get all of this stuff up and running.

Anyway, as I said in some other topic, you and many other members on this forum are already helping us out big time, so it's basically up to us to finish this whole project.

And yeah, it's pretty far into development to just throw it away. And besides, we promised we would let you all run around in our Golden Sun World, so we're trying to keep that.

I think it's an excellent idea, but the hemisphere thing is a problem. Most likely it would have to be based on northern hemisphere seasons, so us southerners will get on in the middle of summer and walk around in the snow, lol :P

It would work if it used a faster time than us. We could even have day/night cycles too. Like, a year passes in 1-2 months.

It would be pretty easy to do really, just that, like Max and AveneR have already stated, they don't have enough free time to spend on GSW. Let alone seemingly pointless features like these.

I hope that they add it some time though. Version 3 or something (if they want to take GSW this far).
