I'm surprised no one made a topic about this (TOO surprised; if I've made a critical error and this turns out do be a dupe, please point, laugh, and report, and it shall be closed... but I did check all 18 pages...).

Anywhoo, yes, by comparison, this game is pretty old, and a majority of you probably don't give a flip anymore. But ANYWAYS; I just realized that this game existed (well, not really, but I finally decided to work up the courage and give it a try) and so far, it seems pretty good, graphics-wise, gameplay-wise, sound, etc. I just wanna' know of your experiences with this game; your opinions, fave. characters or vehicles, anything interesting you want to discuss.

Please note: You could go as far to discuss F-Zero Maximum Velocity, or any other F-Zero games too, if you wish, but I imagine that GX is the most popular for the time being.

I do own F-Zero GX for the GameCube. First of all, I would like to state that the graphics are quite amazing. Thirty high-speed vehicles, unbelievable tracks, twists and turns... Not to mention the incredible Mute City theme...

Now, that having been said, it is also an EXTREMELY difficult game. Honestly, it is as if you need to memorize the tracks to win, as the computer AI is unforgiving. Perhaps it is just me and my lackluster racing skills...

Not to mention the control scheme is somewhat... unresponsive. I can't use Spin Attacks, and even with a high grip-rated vehicle, handling is still quite difficult.

So, all in all, a great racing game (excellent graphics/sound,decent story mode, customization, racing against your own "ghosts", etc.), but be prepared for a frustrating ride. GET IT, RIDE? HA HA HA!... B)

it is a tough game but i thoroughly enjoyed it. I must confess that i rarely race on extreme difficulties now though, as its too streessful with all the being passed and winning by a split second stuff.

I've played it. Graphics, gameplay and sounds are amazing. I thought it would be faster, though.

if you put it in first person (ie ****pit view) it seems a lot faster. But then...i cant think of any racing games that were faster o.o..wipeout sure as hell wasnt...

Well, one thing to note is that while the Graphics are indeed great, I think there are a few texture issues and such. It was a sacrifice that the developers had to do in order to keep the framerate at 60 fps, very smooth. The problem that it creates is that it appears not as fast-paced, and it makes playability more difficult than it should be as it makes noticing turns etc. a very tough feat.

Or it could just be me.

Story Mode alone was challenging. It took me months to beat it on every difficulty. The only thing I wish was the game had online capabilities. :P

That would be great. Never tried the Story Mode, though.

youu own the game and never tried story mode??

it is very hard, especially on the highest setting. Funny though, the absolutely final track where you have to beat the staff ghost, it kept falling off over and over and it took me about 20 attempts on "hard". I decided to go straight into it on "very hard" and did it first time o.o

the story mode and later difficulty settings are hard. It doesnt seem like it if you dont own it i guess, but its an annoying game to get really good at. However, you'd have to buy it in order to get your answer.

What is the story mode all about then? Maybe I have played it. 'Cause I was playing some race that I had to come on a better place than a special person.

um..Basically, Captain Falcon has to save the universe by winning the Grand Prix. Its a very lame story, but then it was developed by Sega...

Nintendo shouldnt have let them do something special like FZero

cos the forces of the universe are contained in the Championship belt or something irrelevant like that...If you get the dark worlds one and the light worlds one then you pwn everyone and everything...apparently..

yeah its definately fun - the different scenarios are entertaining and well desgined-ish, but just dont expect to be driven by an urge of "what happens next in the story". It's worth seeing out though, cos the missions are very challenging and enjoyable.

The only track I really have any difficulty with is Mute City: Serial Jumps. I spent maybe 30 minutes practicing this track today to try to get it down. (Then again, I just got it today. lol)
But this game IS really fun, never mind the difficulty. Even before I got it today I had played it numerous times.

On a GX note, what kind of original machines have you guys made so far?

This topic reminds me of my ancient copy of F-Zero Maximum Velocity. That game really flew under the radar; the visuals are awesome, as is the sound and the variety. And it also has that classic F-Zero Difficulty.

yeah it is a fantastic game - i just wish Nintendo hadn't let sega do it, cos we now have those new wierd checarcters and such. And those movies you unlock for completing it on extreme difficulty are quite....random

Well, it did get good ratings so Sega haven't failed, right?

yeah but i cant help but think that if Nintendo had made it themselves, it would have been much better. It all looks nice, but the musical score could have been improved, and imagine the kinda levels we would have gotten!! Also..Sega did that annoying thing whereby the "sega'd" the characters up. The new characters are mostly appalling.

F-zero games are fun but they are so fast that sometimes I feel nauseous playing them.

F-Zero GX is probably enough to do that to someone; the bright stages moving so fast, yikes. Anyways, I just started playing Maximum Velocity again; that game is so much fun. Yeah, it isn't as fast as GX, but it's still pretty impressive (Hot Violet pwns you all and you know it. :().

Isn't there to be another F-Zero GBA game coming out soon?

i didnt like Max Velocity that much FGX, it just seemed to be way to difficult to get the hang of. But then i never owned it. A new GBA one..i don't think i'd buy it - i stick to mjor consoles for all but rpgs really. And besides, dont you find that you ncan only really be good at ONE F Zero game? I went back to F Zero X (N64) after having played this one for ages and i was hopeless^^

That game for me is probably MV. I only rented GX (but it was still fun enough to warrant its own topic), and I was pathetic. Potentially a really fun game, but Story Mode is nearly impossible for me. Max Velocity is pretty simple, with only a handful of machines, but a whole shiatload of stages.
