Ah yes, Metal Gear. The beginning and best of stealth/action games. I love this series and imitators such as Splinter Cell just don't stack up to it. What do you think?

I prefer MGS over any other stealth title. But games such as Tenchu and Splinter Cell are amazing games in their own right.

Metal Gear Solid 3 is amazing though, it's the closest game to Metal Gear Solid (PS1) out of any of the other Metal Gears.

Also there's so many twists and twirls in the plot, and so many secrets that are discovered everytime a new game is released.

By the way just incase nobody already knows, Metal Gear Solid 4 is already in development.

You mean MGS4? Well Mr. Kojima stated before that MGS3 was the last in the series. But he's working on MG4. This either means that he's going to change the name of the game and make it different a little or keep the name but change everything else. Like the FF series.

Also Mr. Kojima won't be directing MGS4 like he did with the previous titles. Instead he has gotten a new person to make the game, he will be second in command though, but the other guy will be the director. Kojima says when the game comes out on the next gen consoles, he wants it to be totally fresh which is why he is not directing it.

No, Raiden is a guy. You don't have to be a scientist to know that... ^_^

But Raiden was meant to APPEAL to girls. Snake was too boyish. The game only appealed to Male audiences. Kojima made Raiden to appeal to all audiences which is why Raiden doesn't look too much like a guy or like a girl.

I agree though, to sum it up, Raiden was a reaaal big f**k up. :)

See to put it simply, nobody had actually TRIED appealing to a girl audience on a stealth game before. Kojima wanted to give it a shot. :D That's what I think anyhow.

I heard (saw on the special features disk that came with SoL) the Kojima thought of snake as "Godzilla" and raiden as "King kong"

Simply put, snake is a professional at his job, as was godzilla; and raiden was brought in from an outside environment and made to fit in.
Okay, those werent his words, but its the gist of it.

And to make something appeal to a female target audience, you really shouldn't have a male dominated cast, and you DEFINETLY shouldn't have the majority of the chicks DIE. (Emma, Fortune and Olga + others that I have forgotten.)

Ahhh, good ol's MGS. In a couple of weeks once I have enough i'm buying MGS3, I have played a demo of it and it's brilliant. So does that mean if MGS4 is coming out on next gen consoles it won't come out on PS2?

Ah, the Metal Gear games ... a series which I both love and am absolutely awful at playing. Heh heh. I'm going to buy MGS3 when it gets cheaper since I have a cash flow problem right now. I can't wait to play on it though!

Oh, I think Olga does die btw ... or does she? I really can't remember that well. The end of SoL confused me somewhat. It all seemed too fantastical for the ending to an espionage game. o.o;;; Oh, but the part when the Colonel goes all weird was hilarious, and actually had me worried that my game was screwing up at first. :P

Oh yeah I have a theory for MGS3! Volgin is ***! No, I mean literally, he's ***YY!

Snake is in disguise and Volgin grabs his balls and Snake pulls his hand off, and Volgin says "Hm?! You're not Colonel Raikov! Imposter!". XD

Also Mewt I believe you will really enjoy MGS3, the storyline is one of the best yet, same goes for gameplay and the characters.

You will be shocked at how perverted Snake has become though, he stares at womens breasts every chance he gets. :D

Doesn't surprise me. In MGS2 when your in the Tanker if you get into a locker, Konami put posters of women in them and when you make Snake look closer you hear a kissing sound. XD

on Guilty spark if u go above the level u can find a person standing there, then keep going before the indoor structure run down and u will see only guns firing and no men <<

Same here, and I do remember that vent- Meryl Easter Egg. I like sending a Nikita missile towards an enemy then watch them run for their lives while I hunt them down. I think it's either MGS2 or 3 but if you save 12 times in a row Mei Ling appears.

Don't worry, the system is so simple you won't even be annoyed by it. Put it this way, I've never actually LOOKED for food, it just CAME to me. lol

It's a nice touch but nothing too amazing. But you do need to get MGS3, it's the closest game to MGS out of the series. :P

I bought the PS2 official mag and it came with a demo! I just love creeping behind guards then forcing info out of em then cutting them in the throat. I also like the bridge at the beginning, I cut the ropes and the bridge go's all wobbling, I almost fell of seven times.

In Metal Gear Solid & Metal Gear Solid 2 you don't play as Big Boss, you play as his clone. That is why on Metal Gear Solid Liquid tells you that you are the sons of Big Boss, you're noy his sons, your his clones.

Do you guys remember Snake's Revenge for, I think it was for, the NES? That was the worst Metal Gear game ever, so much, that it's not even part of the chronology of the series. Mr. Kojima didn't work on that though.

My MGS3 arrived today! I am currently by the Rassvet area, the area after the bridge part at the beginning. I like the game since it's all about stealth and if you get caught it takes like five minutes to get off alert, evasion and caution.

It depends, you can threaten certain guards to tell you alert codes. So when you trigger an alert you call them up by codec pretending to be a guard saying "the area is clear, I advise we switch back to normal mode" unfortunately you can only use the code once since they change frequency straight after. :wacko:

Yeah, I also found out that every single enemy or boss that you kill in the game appears in The Sorrow boss. He summons thier dead souls against you, that's why I am not going to kill anyone, so in that battle you just have to run down to the other end of the river and get the Spirit Camoflauge.

I killed everyone I saw the first time around but I managed to dodge all the ghosts of them. :D

It took soooo godamn long though, I must have killed like half the population of Russia like, they just kept coming for like 30 minutes. XD

Luckily, I'm very good at running away if guards see me in the MGS games. I once got Snake to run straight through a riot-shield! Impressive, no? :P

My friend told me about when you eat certain things in MGS3 and Snake says "Umm, tasty." I really want to hear that! XD

I also spoke to my uncle recently and he's on the top 100 list of people who've completed MGS2 or something. He completed it on European Extreme level in 4 hours. Whereas I completed it on Normal in about 2 weeks. =S It obviously does not run in the family to be good at MGS.

I completed it on Hard my first time around in 9 hours without any FAQ's etc.

Of course I missed quite alot of camo's and wepaons, like I said, first time playing though.

Tenchu games are cool but they suck now, just incase you don't know the team who made Tenchu havn't been making the game since Tenchu1. The rest of the Tenchu series lacks quality, but don't worry, the developers of Tenchu have seperated to make a game that will hopefully beat the monster they created, and personally from the previews their Ninja game is looking kickass! :P

On MGS1 (PSX) when Meryl knocks out the guard in the cells and you see him naked on the ground knocked out, his ass is censored, but if you crouch down right behind him and zoom in maximum with your scope you can get passed the censor >.<

Yayness! I finally completed MGS3! It was on Very Easy but who cares. I hate The End boss battle, it took me exactly 1 hour 45 minutes and 57 seconds, I also got the Moss camoflauge. Half the time when Snake is talking to Eva he looks at her breasts >.< The Fury battle is quite fun aswell, I just hate it when he burns you tell hell with his flamethrower. Anyways, out of MGS, MGS2 and MGS3, what's your favourite? Mines MGS3 for sure.

I have this awesome shot of a guard in mid flight. *sigh* So much fun. I reckon having that camera in your inventory adds about 5 hours worth of playtime onto the game. lol

On SoL I punch guards off the bridges then quickly take a picture of them falling. MGS3 isn't that hard, it's just all about stealth, if your seen it's mostly all over. Try to make good use of the area you are in, look for hiding places and use camoflauge. I completed it in 11 hours and 27 minutes on Normal mode, I only found some bosses hard, like The Boss. Just keep down, use CQC to take out the guards siliently and you'll be fine.

It took you that long on Very Easy?! I completed the game my first time round on Hard mode in 09 hours 37 minutes. Obviously though I missed many of the camo's and weapons since it was my first time playing.

MGS3 is actually the easiest MGS game in the series technically. It's much more easy aquiring the Big Boss rank when completing the game for some reason.

I finally have it. I got up to the sorrow, and uh... yeah. I only just worked out you can use the revival pill to revive yourself when he/ that skeleton thingy pwns you.
It took me three fustrating walks through that river, but it DID finally dawn on me. lol

You know what really sparks my attention in Snake eater? It's the fact that Kojima has taken a real life event(s) and has added a twist of reality to them to make the game unrealistic, yet realistic enough to make it real. Whoa; confusing.

A guy who can control bee's, an ex-astronaut/pyromaniac hell bent on playing with fire, a DEAD sniper, a freak that can jump from tree to tree and STILL not ever fall down and People defecting left right and center makes for a great game people. Don't deny it.

How do they come up with a mobile missile launching tank that can travvel at supersonic speed even though it's a fat pile of metal junk, yet they can't come up with a missile that can be controlled remotely?

Bah, maybe they do have Nikita but we havn't found it yet. There's alot of weapons in that game you gotta find, you can check an FAQ but I personally have chosen not to read FAQ's.

To my awareness there is no Nikita in the game, I have looked every, from the brown soil to Snake's old underwear. And I agree MR, konami put weird stuff in MGS3, that's why I like it, oh and you forgot the dude who can have ten million volts pumped into his body without getting an electric shcok -.-

I finished it today (I havent been playing it much). The ending is THE best ending for a videogame I have ever seen. EVER.
I got Jaguar as my rank. Pretty bad if you ask me. lol

Hopefully 'Final Fantasy Solid' would be better than Square's love-child with Disney ... 'Kingdom Hearts' wasn't bad, but I got some odd looks when I bought it (being an 17 year old back then ... not THAT old, though). Now 'Final Fantasy Solid' would be the game of the century ... possibly the best game in existance! Oh wow.

I still am dubious about playing MGS3 ... it looks all scary and open and much more male-orientated than the previous titles ... someone showed me the special sequence with Eva and the transmitter ... *shudder*
