sorry, I don't know many programs, so I think that this will be cluttered with "other" votes.

Anyway, Microsoft Antispyware is the best by milestones. It detected threats that Spy Sweeper never detected, and has it's own way of rating the "severity" of spy/adware.

Spyware in it's self is no harm at all. Spyware was created to be a file inside a program, that would monitor someone, and it would report back to a company so the company can improve. Hence the name spyware.

Though, with all the companies putting it in, all of it trying to report back, it can slow, even freeze a computer when there are too many programs running. Anyways...

      Search and Destroy.

        You "use" adware?
Adware is a form of malware that cause that causes pop ups, pop-unders etc... =/
I have nothing at the moment, but I'm considering getting Norton Personal Firewall 2005 to accompany my NAV2005.

Every computer gets spyware, it's just a matter of time.
And perhaps ad-aware is so good you don't realise you have spyware? Or it removed it/blocks it instantly?

I use a combonation of MS AntiSpyware, Spy Sweeper, and Ad-Aware Personal SE. I haven't had any spyware or adware for a loooooooooong time.

I'm not sure which works best, but I actually prefer Ad-Aware Personal SE over 'em. Spy Sweeper may be a good detector, but I find the program just slightly clunky.

Microsoft AntiSpyware by far, more like milestones. It detects alot of threats my other programs haven't, even a severe one. It cured this odd IE Search Bar that my other Spyware Programs couldn't cure called "OmegaSearch", and its a severe spyware/adware problem. Spyware can also exploit security settings. However, I have Spobot S & D too.

                            Get Microsoft AntiSpyware here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en
