True, but Yahoo Chat is filled with all those dumb spambots.

And nowadays AIM chat is laggy as hell half the time.

Then again, why go to some huge chat site when you can go IRC?

Uh, Musicman, not everyone has IRC, and not all IRC clinents are free either.
Plus, there are certain commands in mIRC that send viruses. There are things like that too on MSNM, but IRC is more easily exploited (I think...)

There are certain commands in mIRC that can allow someone to send viruses, and most of the clients have the same commands. The best way to deal with it is to know what they are.

Why is MSN charging 13 dollars? Is this for their MSN Messenger service?

            Link? Article?

No, they've been charging for MSN Chat for quite some time now. It's not really anything new.

its just I wanna know why, they have nothing special about them, its just a normal MSNM window(just in a browser window) with all the normal Emoticons, you can just make a huge convo in msnm free...o.o

I wonder if they will start charging us to use the Messenger service...O.o

Just remember; This is Microsoft we're talking about here. Of course they're going to money whore us.

And the day they start charging for AIM, is the day that ICQ becomes paid-only too, because both are run by AOL believe it or not.

google has come out with a messenger sort of system, at least I think it has, its called "hello" its meant to send images to each other super fast but i think you can chat with eachother also, thats what it says.

I don't really understand the need of a "chatroom" thing either. There are many chat programs out there, and most are free. As long as they don't charge for MSN Messenger, I'm okay with it.

The MSN Chat system is worth paying for because it's head and shoulders above anything anyone else has to offer right now.

Thats true. I got dragged into a yahoo one once by FGX and it wasnt a pleasant experience. I dont think MSN's chatrooms are ever going to interest me to be honest, even if they were free.

Far too many people who use MSN are below 18, and couldn't pay. It would destroy the program.

I never go into chatrooms; because of security, viruses etc. Even if I did I wouldn't pay for it. There are too many free chatrooms for people to actually bother paying to go in it.

I wouldn't be surprised. When I firsted used MSN7 I noticed a few things that looked "paid-only", and "Billing Information" in the Help menu is a big "hint hint" to me.
