Is it only me, or do links in MSN Messenger tend to always open with IE? How do you make the links open with Opera or something like that?

Obviously MSN is related to IE, Microsoft created it!!! Sadly, I don't know how to fix your problem.

Well, I think its because since most internet users have IE, so it would be conveniant for them.

I would assume you could fix it by editting registry files, however, there is no quick way to fix it.

Well, I think editing the registry is VERY risky, and it doesnt bother me so much, I'm sure we'll live like that.

You've obviously got Internet Explorer as your default browser, as it was like that for me, too, until I made FireFox my default browser.

Actually, Opera is my default browser. in IM's, the links open in Opera, but in other MSNM links, it opens in IE. O_o

well, edit the registry for msnm, what could happen? create a backup and change it, if ur to scared to do that, just know that there is always a concept called "Re-install".

It's rather pointless to try and edit MSN Messenger's registry, mainly because Microsoft has made Messenger the most STUBBORN IM program ever. For example, if you don't want it to start on boot, you have to friggin' use Spy Sweeper or Kill The Messenger.exe to do so. If you go into msconfig and take it off, it'll just put itself on again.

So if you wanna make it stop opening in IE, good luck, but it's doubtable.

Well, about the MSNM starting on boot thing, you can disable that in MSNM's preferences.

No, there is no option within MSNM itself to stop the links from loading in IE.

I have uninstalled IE (Yes, as much as possible) and IE still opens. So no, I wouldn't assume you could fix ti easily.

Just copy and paste the link into Opera if you want.

a question about editing MSNM's registry: what would I change there to make Opera Beta 3 (Opera 8 Beta) open?

Not correct. Messenger will boot up, even if you think it doesn't. It merely won't connect.

u wanna know how to stop it from booting!?

goto Start > Run > type MsConfig > run it, goto the start up tab and get rid of msnm, but dont get rid of things u dont know they are, might mess ur computer up.
