So when does school end for you? Mine ends next Thursday. I am exempt from all of my finals, so no need for studying. I have alot of things to do this summer, such as starting a RTS game (like Starcraft) with some friends. Also, I am getting a job, $320 (US) a week. I am also going to theme parks, laser tag, fishing, all that good stuff!

So what are ya'll gunna do? :D

Eh? School's out already? Mine doesn't get out till August 6th, and then we get a one-week break till school starts again...it's a private school, so all of them don't get one of those Western 'Summer Breaks'...I don't think that a month-long break is a good idea, I mean, a week is long enough...same as Christmas break; Western schools get about 1-2 weeks off (my friend form Scottland told me)! We get Christmas Evening off, but that's it; I think that it's good not to have long breaks.

Because I passed all my TAKS Tests and scored above average in all of my classes. We get Exempt for that.

*TAKS is a test only here in Texas. It's the Texas Assessment of Knowlwdge and Skills. To us, it's more important than SATs.

I got one working for the city of Toronto as a assistant camp counsellor. Out of 560 people and only 80 spots open and 2 selection trials I was picked. I chose to work in a Sports camp teaching kids 10-12 how to play different kinds of sports. Funny thing is I am only really good at basketball. What they don't know wont hurt them. The kids will soon know the true meaning of pain. :P Plus I get cash for doing it. Life is good.

i finished high school 2 years a go, and after my last exams on monday and wednesday i'll have finished college too, damn those A levels, i remember GCSE work and unbeleievably basic and easy it is compared to A level. If got an A* at GCSE English then immediately did the A level exam, you'd be lucky to get an E, that's how little you get taught.
Not to put any one off, you can measure how much better college is than high school.

i personally hate summer i'm a winter person, Hayfever ruins just about everything and the evil sun scorches me for wearing black clothing.

I'll need to get ajob over summer to help fund university, i should worked whilst at college but i'm lazy and value my free time.

Over the Summer, I am attending a Science/Math Scholars Academy, volunteering, and tutoring for roughly 65 US dollars per week.

We start school at five (some start at 6), so does Canada and I think Mexico. We spend 2 semesters in each grade. So I'll be out of achool at age 18. I'm about to be 17.

World hsitory is the only class I like, and I enjoy it very much. My history teacher actually wrote material for a guy in Disney, who's starting a new Bonnie and Clyde movie.

Really, Maths is fun... Even though I always get sucky teachers, the subject is always nice.

Though my last math teacher called me a "Smartalec" (or something so) since I always proved him wrong in his classes. I nearly got introuble because of him. I hated him so much! He was the worst teacher I had in my life. Luckily, I only had him for one year...

haha, my brother got in trouble for "being smarter than the teacher"...what happened bascially was that the teacher didn't want to be "corrected" anymore, so he gave my brother a 75% (out of 100%) in his final exam, when none of the answers were wrong. I guess some of these teachers have yet to mature and learn to put aside emotions and stick to their jobs

I'm going to be going to Community College this year. Taking Mythology and some secondary education classes.

My school starts in less than an hour. Though I only go for about an hour the first day so it's not that bad.

[edit] So now the first day's over, I was in school for about 1 and a half hour. As usual, we got loads of paper to be signed by our parents. But it was a good day. Tomorrow we're going to do nothing but walk in a park and maybe play soccer or something.

wow...what kind of school is that? I mean, I've known of places where the school day lasts between 4 and 5 hours...but they still do school stuff...they don't go around playing soccre or walking in the park...now, i'm not saying it's a bad thing...just i've never heard of something like that

Is it just me or as you go on in school do the teachers seem to slowly get... weirder? I think it's because the higher grade teachers get progressively more overworked. :D Ha.

So... think about that.

I've orientation/maze day/the-day-I-get-my-schedule on the 25th. I'm looking forward to that, I want to know wether or not I got photography as an elective... even though I know it's going to take forever to actually get inside and get the schedule. I can't remember the day I go back to school. It's either the 29th or the 31st.

My second day was an hour long walk to this famous house, where we played a little soccer and got 2 hot dogs to eat. then it was the same way back, took another hour, and then home.

Very bad news for me, my social studies teacher has stayed. She's the worst teacher ever imaginable. You can get a worse grade than someone that's answered less questions than you correctly. And she doesn't like the way I write the test "swedish", she only says swedish is the way I am.

Some good news, my PE teacher has stayed. He's promised me an A in PE if I only keep on like I've done in the 8th grade.

Well, the I got horrible classes. I'm on my third year os Spanish, and the teacher knows all the students but me, so she goes easy on them. and the rest... just annoying.

haha, did i mention i have film class twice? yup! 4th and 5th period. It's pretty cool, we get free tickets to advance movie screenings, shows, museum exhibits, and things of that sort. And pretty much all we have to do is just e-mail a detailed film/soundtrack/show/etc critique to the teacher.

Besides...there's a lot of spanish-speaking people in this country...wouldn't hurt to be able to better communicate with them, i guess. Yes, I know why, it was kinda sarcasm. But still, those people who speak just spanish should LEARN ENGLISH because this is the united States, our official language is English.

of course. That's what I did. And I think I'm doing pretty good, considering that when I came here, the English language was a completely new thing to me. Didn't speak a word in English. Well...maybe I WAS able to say hello, yes, and no, but that's about it. Anyways, speaking about languages, anyone taken any other foreign-language classes? I've taken 2 years of french, and am currently taking Latin 1 online.

We only got spanish in our school. We did have French and German a long time ago, but those teachers moved away. I want to take German though, it seems great, and I know a little.

YES!! German. I'd love to learn it. But they only offer it as an after-school program. Does count towards your credits, but you have to stay in school till very late. And that's why there's no way in hell i'm taking it.

Well, my AP US History calss counts as 6 hours of college credit... which means, no Hsitory classes in college for me, cuz i'm doing a college year now.

And my BCIS class is a college calss too, but it's WAY too easy to seem like one.

aaah...AP classes. I've never taken one. I decided not to. The endless piles of work my friend got from his 5 AP classes were just very discouraging. I've taken Honors tho.

well, in my opinion high school's the best stage in school. It's the least boring one. And it's the one that takes less work. Of course, that is not always true, as it depends on what classes you take, but in general, it's the more "relaxed" stage in school.

good. I'm now in my last four months of school. But i know that once i'm out i'll miss many things of high school. I dunno...it's like, when you're in you want to get out... but when you're out you miss certain things and want to go back...

that's sad. I mean no ofence...but that's sad...you're missing out on a lot. Well...back in my country i unwillingly had to go to catholic school (at the time, it was my parents' decision, not mine)...and let's just say that i'm not the most religious person around. So, it wasn't a good thing. I got in trouble a lot. But there were chicks, some of them pretty hot, so i guess it was alright.

Yes they are, but very far from me. Plus, I wouldn't want to leave the school I go, its very good. Has the one of the higest CXC pass rate in the Caribbean FYI :)

I really don't want to go back to school. It really is bad bad school. Well the teachers are bad. if anyone went up to my friend in my school, all of them would say the teachers are bad. I am in a private school, so thats probably why, a SMALL school.

Except we get a really cool teacher, who i had before and went to teach a new grade, and a computer class bye a guy who taught 2nd grade and let them only use one kind of pencil, one brand.

Our school has some history behind it. Other than that, it's boring. They got loads of money, but they never use it.

my school gets a lot of money too, because of a big ESOL program, and good standardized test scores over all...but they either don't use it or spend it on things that are not needed...the computer programming classes, as well the web design ones, that need GOOD computers, are still using old-arse dells with pentium 2's in them. well...2 of them have pentium 3's, but that's about it...

There are some sad stories surrounding my school though.

Last year september, a hurricane stuck my country, it damaged my school. Files were lost, and such. Damages came up to about 2 million EC.

Early this year when things were picking up. It had a fire, this fire caused much more damage since it destroyed almost everything the school had. Around 5 million EC.

Later around two months after it had ANOTHER fire, which caused even more damage to the school...

Imagine that, we were in a big big problem. I don't know what's going on there though since we have holidays, when school reopens I'll tell you what's going on.

:) wow...your school certainly does have stories...my school hasn't suffered any major damage...the only thing is, during hurricane season, they use schools as shelter, and mine has indeed been used as one. When you come back after the hurricane's gone, it smells really bad there.

My summer job just ended yesterday and now I have about 2-3 weeks off before I head back to school. I know that for one week I have to work to get my driver's license. The next week I'll be going on a trip to Florida or I'll be having some family fun. My money is on the trip.

School shopping.
It is horrible! I think if I could jump in front of a train or do school shopping I'd pick the train.
Surely I shouldn't have to try on my school uniform during the holidays to see if it fits.
As well as that it also reminds me that school is waiting to be forced into my life again. :D
There is only one good thing about this. Once we are done I usually end up going into the game shops! :)

And not talking isn't all it's cracked up to be. Especialy since I'm only allowed to do it once a month.

TT;; I'm starting school in two weeks and I'm going to my first day of highschool. I'm terrifed, and I heard everyone who isn't a freshman hate freshman (so do I, bunch of n00bs). And there's alot of like, gangs. I mean like the asians hang out together, the hispanics hang out together, and any other ethnic group stick together :) I wish they had written a handbook on 'How To Survive Highschool As A Freshman'

I just had my first day of college today. Was interesting to say the least. We had a scanvenger hunt to find certain buildings. Tomorrow I have Mythology and intro to Algrebra. I'm only taking intro cuz I didn't take a math class my Senior year in highshool and I just need a refresher course.
