I don't think there is a topic on this.

I vote Adobe Photoshop as it is the only one I have used.

I've used Photoshop, Paintshop pro, MS paint and Fireworks. My favourite is Photoshop. I don't like the navigation in Fireworks and Paintshop pro, and MS paint just mainly suck.

GIMP I have heard of, but I doubt a freeware is so good.

There are more than one version of Microsoft Paint, to let you know.

I vote Adobe Photoshop, followed by Corel Photopaint, great for brushing.

I've used Photoshop, Fireworks, Paintshop Pro, and Paint, among others.

Just a small nitpick: Photoshop can save images in bitmap formats, but the type of graphics it's designed for are called raster graphics.

              Anyhow...

              - The GIMP is way over-rated. Sure, it's open source. Whoop-de-f'ing-doo. It's got nothing else going for it.

              - PaintShop Pro is pretty good as far as features go, but it's interface is sorta sloppy compared to Photoshop's interface.

              - MS Paint is 73h üb3r1337 sh17!!!! It sucks, and Paint.NET is considerably better, but making designs pixel by pixel is fun sometimes.

              - I haven't had a chance to really try out Fireworks, so I wouldn't know its pros and cons.

              - Adobe Photoshop is the king of all raster graphics programs. 'Nuff said.

              - Corel Painter is the king of all digital paint programs. 'Nuff said.

If you get he hang of MS Paint it's the best for pixel art.

Yeah. i had a copy of it, probably gunna get another one, but now I only have Paint shop Pro.

Paint is the best for Pixel-By-Pixel art, like sprites. Well, IDraw is good, but Paint is just reliable.

Paint is a nice small program that loads fast, and has all the features you need for pixel art. Just about every pixel artist I have talked to uses it. Photoshop is also ok for Pixel art.

Paint is the program I use the most, even though it's third on my list. I do all my spriting and saving on it. Probably because ImageReady only saves as .psd's. If only photoshop would open.

                            IN order of favorite:
                            Photoshop
                            Paint
                            PSP
                            Fireworks

I HATE FIREWORKS, horrible quality renders, photoshop is always best though =]

Well Fireworks, like Max has said before, is mainly for creating web layouts, as it can integrate well with Dreamweaver (both are by Macromedia). I also though the same of it before he said this.

I like Photoshop too, I got Photoshop CS. I can't use it that good though, so usually I ask people to design graphics for me.

I'm busy with school so I don't do anything related to designing now. When summer come's around I feel I'm going to learn so I can aid my website with graphics.

Out of that list, I have used all of them except for Paint Shop Pro. o.o; But, I would have to say Adobe Photoshop. It's the first one I ever used after Paint.

Fireworks is really neat too. I only used it a couple of times during class though. And GIMP x.x I never really liked the GIMP.

Oh and, Sheba also has this painting program called Art Rage :O It does stuff just like traditional art.

Supposedly the best for pixel art, but I used fireworks for mine, and it was good, and turn off anti-aliasing in photoshop and it can be used for PA as well.

I know. Thats why I use it. To prove to "non-beleivers" (people who think it can't do nothin) it can do things!

Paint is what is best for Pixil art, i heard Fireworks is almost as good, but I know Idraw is good, but it's for Charsets and such, not for relative images.

Most free image programs suck, infact... I can't remember which ones(besides trials) are any good...
