    Francis "Mickey" Featherstone

The right hand man of Jimmy Coonan, who was the leader of the Irish Mafia(The Westies) in Hell's Kitchen. Mickey joined the Army when he was 17, went to Vietnam, and wasn't allowed to fight. A story about him was that in Vietnam, he got drunk and a few friends though that it would be funny to circumcise him, so they did. I'm not sure if that happned though.

When he got back from Viet Name in 1970, he started dealing into drugs, and murdered a few people. Infact, one murder was because he heard voices in his head. He was discharged from the army due to Skitzophrenia.

Mickey Featherstone was an incredibly fearless person. He never backed down from anyfight, and never lost. Just the person Jimmy Coonan was looking for. He knew Mickey because Mickey barrowed a gun from him some time ago to deal with a guy who wanted to fight him in a bar. Coonan soon introduced him to his "organization". Now, if you wanna know something cruel that Coonan did, he chopped up his victims and through them in the river in New York. Mickey hated how Coonan killed people, you know, chopping them up, but Coonan assured business was business. When Coonan killed a friend of Mickey, he told mickey to stab his heart, while he was dead in the tub, and mickey refused, but, as a kinda "right of passage," Mickey was forced to do it. The Westies were allied with the Gambino Family.

During this time, he murdered more people, and became one of the most feared gangsters in New York. In 1979, Featherstone was indicted for the murder of Whitney Whitehead, another gangster I soppose, where he was found innocent. later though, the police caught him for conterfieting and Coonan for something else. Mickey got 6 years, Coonan, only 4.

Coonan promised to take care of Mickey's family when he was out, but he didn't. This angered Mickey. Featherstone also began to hate how Coonan kissed up to the Italian Mafia.

He finally decided to stop being a gangster, and went straight. He turned down an offer from Coonan and Coonan's wife, Edna, to murder some dudes. When word reached Coonan about Mickey turning down the offer, he began angry, but still did not dislike him so much, after all, they were like brothers.

The breaking point between Featherstone and Jimmy Coonan started when Coonan refused to lend Featherstone $40,000, mainly because he owed it sorta and it was for him family. Remember, Featherstone was clean now. He soon put together his own gang of thugs and former irish mafia gangsters to take out Coonan and his associates. His two top men for the conspiracy were Billy Beattie, whom Coonan was going to kill, and Jimmy McElroy, one of which Coonan killed previously I think.

Featherstone and his "good" gang could not find Coonan. But in 1986, Coonan murdered some guy and framed Mickey. That was the final straw. The FBI got Mickey to "rat" later that year, and back in those days, "ratting" out on some one was extremely bad, and Mickey did it on his own free will. He was 39. In court, everyone stared down at him. He testified against Coonan and helped convict him of murder. He later testified against the Italian gangsters.

Featherstone is still alive somewhere, under the watchful eyes of the Witness Protection Program, going under a new name, his where abouts are unknown. He's far from new York, and Promised to turn his life around.

Overall, he killed about 20-30 people in cold blood.

So where do you think he is? I really want to know where he is, because his life was so compelling. It's the perfect idea for a movie. He struggled, through being a druck, to a killer, being "embraced" by a big brother type character, Jimmy Coonan, and finally releases from his dealings.

Well if he killed people, and he wasn't caught, he's obviously in hiding somewhere. Europe maybe? I dunno, what are some good places to hide?

He did kill people, but I found a documentary on him. He was being abused literally in vietnam by his own crew, and sttarted drinking, then went kinda insane. He went straight and calm. That's why he is in the Witness Protection program, they protect people who are witnesses to serial killers etc, and those who used to live a criminal life and changed dramatically.
