My favourite vocalists until know are: (I don't know all the names e.e)
-Dolores O'Rhiordan (The Cranberries)
-Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails)
-The girl from Theatre of Tragedy
-The guy from Muse
I also love the voices of all of those Indi Rock vocalists. Like the guys from: Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, The Killers. They all have similar voices in my opinion.
A great example of a band that I don't like JUST because of the vocalist: Guns N'Roses.
I think their music itself is great but...the style of singing is just not my thing.

A habit? If the vocals suck, then I won't like the band, vocals are a third of the band.

Vocals
I think my favorites are maonly rock/metal vocals. The softer ones just don't cut it. And guys that sounds girly... Yikes!

~Instrumentation
-- Vocals (vocals ARE and instrument)
-- Guitars
-- Bass
-- Drums
-- Keys
~Lyrical Content
That's the way a song is set up. You can't say "I like the music but I hate the vocals", that makes no sense.

Guns N'Roses.
The instrumental part is great. I love it.
BUT
The vocals make me cringe.
So.
I don't listen to them. AT ALL. (Unless I have no other choice).

Well, i think Latin voices for gospel music have good voices, but I HAte just plain old gospel music. Add Rock, metal, I don't care, just add something.

for pure range (these guys can really get up there!)
Cedric Bixler-Zavala (the Mars Volta)
James LaBrie (Dream Theater)
Geddy Lee (Rush)
and
Tom Champlin (Keane)
Matthew Bellamy (Muse)
Steve Morse (ex-Spock's Beard, ex-TransAtlantic)
that's about all of the ones I can think of that perticularily stand out to me. most of the other bands I like have good vocals, but not extrordinary. also, Benjamin Kowalewicz (Billy Talent) and Jack White (the White Stripes) have very unique voices that aren't necissarily that great, but they stand out. and they have a certain appeal to them (in my opinion)

Galder - Old Man's Child
Bert McCraken - The Used
Mike Reno - The Agony Scene
Tony Kakko - Sonata Arctica
Randy Blythe - Lamb Of God
Corey Taylor - Slipknot/Stone Sour
Howard Jones - Killswitch Engage
All fantastic at what they do.

That's what I was saying exept I was saying all the instuments were Music, not seperate.
Emery, Demon Hunter, Kids in the Way, Project86, Anberlin, and Underoath have the best of vocals in my opinion.
