Call me ignorant, but I remain highly misinformed on this.

I have always used Windows Messenger, and I've been able to easily contact everyone who have .NET accounts. But apparently, I have been told that Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger are very different.

Simply elaborate on this, and which one do you use or prefer?

    Thanks.

MSN Messenger by far. Of course, I use Trillian so that > both.

Windows Messenger is MSN Messenger with fewer features. Just in case you're wondering.

Down to the basics, they're the same thing. But MSN Messenger is just prettier :3

                And Trillian = evil </3

MSNs way better in my opinion. 'Sides, I can put my crazy Display Pics there, like this one.

MSN beats Window$ Messenger in every way.

Look better (this is the reason I use it).
Is used by a hell of a lot of people (another reason I use it).
                    Webcam, audio, activities, games...
MSN plus adds infinite new options.

MSN owns Windows Messenger, as well as every other chat program in my opinion.

Windows messenger is bundle in Windows XP and it is needed to integrate outlook, outlook express and remote assistance with messenger. MSN is for the other versions of Windows (and XP to). MSN also has UPnP NAT file transfer, wich Windows messenger doesn't have.

MSNM 7 has more functions, but if you think it looks confusing, then try downloading MSNM 6.2 from somewhere. It is very similar to Windows, but has a few other useful features,(display pictures) but not some of the stupid stuff from 7, (like winks + nudges). I think they tried to cram too much into 7.

So yeah, I'd try MSNM 6.2 first.

We got windows messenger with our computer so I started using it. Then a friend told me that msn was better so I tried it. I couldn't really find any difference but now I'm only using msn(mostly because my brother deleted it but also because my friends has it)

windows messenger is a plague! I always have problems getting it to stop auto-connecting (connects even when switched off, and then fails to tell me <<) and also trying to exit the bloody thing. Plus, it sucks as far as features go.
