The show teaches kids to turn people into candy and eat them.

And I agree Mars Djinn, Games based on shows are very limited to certain parts of the show ( for DBZ, its mostly the first few sagas).

But DragonBall Z budokai 3 is actually a very good game. I have never played the soul caliber series but it looks very good.

anyway, from what I've seen of DBZ, the show generally consists of two big muscular guys standing, glaring at each other while panting for about ten minutes. then one of them is like "I will destroy you like a little speck" and the other is like "no, it is I who will destroy you"
and then they start yelling and glowing for a few seconds, and then they jump at each other and punch and kick wildly for a while before spriniging apart to repeat the cycle again... and again... and again...

Since we are talking about the show and not the game, I'm moving this to the entertainment forum.

I only watched a few spanish episodes, the action was nice IMO, but the story wasn't (after all I couldn't undertand it)

Of course, in general, the DBZ battles tend to be drawn out. Entire episodes are spent just preparing for battle. But when they take off, they are definitely some cool moments to remember.

DBZ has it's moments, but overall it's not that special. Like you said, they first spend like ten episodes talking and talking and then a few eps fighting. There is too much talking during DBZ. Not that realistic. In the middle of a fight they start a conversation which lasts kind of forever, whilst they do not attack eachother. Another thing I find rather annoying in DBZ is that while two people are fighting, the rest of his friends are just standing by it and watching how their pal get's killed without doing anything themselves.

Well, I've been trying to breathe some life into the forums. There are plenty of great topics out there, but they're "lost", so to speak. Worth a shot, eh? ;)
That said, like you said, characters will often stop and talk during the middle of fights. Often times, this is done to shed some light on a character, which I'll admit can be pretty interesting. You come to accept, for example, Vegeta's incredible pride, Goku's nobility/chivalry, Piccolo's hardcore demeanor, etc.
It gives the characters a bit of the human aspect, as opposed to being raging fighting lunatics.
(Though I'll admit, it can be pretty hard to see that).
