I used it before, but I don't use it anymore, I'm comfortable with McAfee.

Mcafee is useless. It came up 5 minutes late, when a virus was attacking my cpu. Anyway, I went to the ZoneAlarm website. Do they have a trial free version, because I now know what is attacking my computor.

Please excuse my double posting, but I just got Zone Alarm Pro, and it is GREAT. It got rid of 27 spyware components that have been attacking my computor for almost 2 weeks now ( I couldn't find them myself. They were well hidden). It even stopped this website from getting into my computor, and putting a malicious software in it. I think i'm gonna buy the real version ( If I have the money).

ZoneAlarm is very good. Unfortunately at times it can be too good and prevent your computer accessing the internet at all. I had to turn it off to manage to get my computer onto the internet as we speak. It can get carried away.

That is very true. It stopped Firefox from accessing the internet for me, and it tried to change my internet settings to a very tight security one, but i'm not turning it off, because as we speak, this wierd website keeps trying to access my internet, but fails each time.

I simply despise ZoneAlarm... All my experiences with it have been bad, so have my friends. On top of things it uses way too much memory.

What kind of expirences. Its really good ( in my oppinion), but it sort of takes control, a little to much.

Well, for some reason it blocked Worms 2, which hadn't accessed the network at all, and other stuff. I also just hate the way it's not very customizable. Other experiences as wel, but too lazy to type them out and stuff. :P

ZoneAlarm doesn't stop internet access, it just prompts you whenever you try to do something 'risky'. Just click Allow if you know what you're doing, and click Deny if it's asking to download a pornography toolbar.

... I know that... It's a firewall dude, that's what it's SUPPOSED to do. It's also reminding me of my friends mom, since it's so "paranoid". It's a good Firewall, don't get me wrong, I just think it isn't that efficient seeing the number of false alarms and such it gives, and it's lack of customization. I'll just stick to Panda.

Geez, it isn't that much of a burden just to click a button every now and then, especially if your firewall is giving you top of the range virus protection.

Jack, your getting a little better with your posts. (Haven't read the rest yet though)

The samething happens for McAfee, if a program wants access to the internet you have to allow in on McAfee, I think that's a good thing so I'm not complaining.

Clicking a button every now and then isn't a problem at all. You have to do the same with ANY FIREWALL. But for a Firewall, ZoneAlarm uses way too much memory. Last I checked it was using 30 MB of RAM... Considering I have only 128, thats a lot, especially compared to my Panda, which used only 4 to 6 MB of RAM, and did the job beautifully. The one thing I don't like about ZoneAlarm is that there are a lot of false alarms, and even for programs that don't access t he network (or simply the internet, if you're using a direct connection), it will block them. From my experience it isn't nearly as efficient as some others I've seen. It's great to have good security, but when you're sacrificing loads of performance, especially on slow computers (like mine), it isn't so great. It's pretty easy to find a firewall that runs better than ZoneAlarm, for example, there are bundle packs of nearly every antivirus that come with Firewalls (Panda Internet Security, Norton Internet Security, etc). I always found that the Firewalls tied to antiviruses were better than Standalones, especially for home computers.
To clarify, I'm basically saying the same thing I've been saying the entire time, but you seem to think it's a lazy issue and that I don't know what I'm doing. Believe me, I know perfectly what a Firewall does. As for getting rid of Sypware, ad-ware, and all that stuff, there are better way of doing it, and preventing getting those on your computer.

I hate ZoneAlarm so much I am sticking with the other programs who do what they do better, spyware I got three programs against that, AVG has a good firewall and doesn't literally screw up online gaming when you try to do it, the pop up just destroyed Unreal, I had to wait 15 minutes before I got to click allow, and that was the final straw of that program, the firewall that I have now at least allows me to put in a set of programs that I want to acces the internet, ZoneAlarm just is too late in asking.

I had to recently get rid of it. It was really slowing down my computor, and any time I wanted to play a game, it would keep telling me obvious stuff. ( like the game is trying to turn on, and its a dangerous action) :P

I didn't have any problems with it, but I've been reliably informed that Norton's better so I'll stick with that.

I've got a hardware firewall anyway so I shouldn't have to worry too much.
