    Which do you like more?
Do you prefer a game to have new ideas and different controls?
Or do you prefer similar gameplay to other games you have?
Please tell me how you feel.

Personally I prefer games to try to do something different like the Wario Ware series. That's just my opinion though. -_-

I like the best of both worlds. Simple as that.

I agree. Who cares if the game is innovative or not, as long as it's amazing -_-. Lets face it, the adaptations and advancments made on old genres by third parties in the last year are far more impressive than the 'innovative' nintendo games.
The DS is a prime example. Once developers realise it's better to adapt traditional games (namely RTS's and FPS's) rather than create new 'intuitive' puzzle games it will be an awesome console.

I wish it would be easy to say one or the other or both, but if any change is too entirely drastic, I would prefer to stay away from it.

Familiar controls are nice. So are new ones, as long as they're innovative enough. Personally, the Wario Ware series didn't appeal to me at all...

So basically like myself you like the best of both worlds. This poll is not very accurate because it's like asking if you prefer a car with no wheels or a car with wheels but no steering wheel.

Both are good & bad at the same time so I'd like the wheels from the non-steering car and the steering from the non-wheels car. Best of both worlds. Understand? -_-

Games like Metroid Prime are appealing to me. A new twist on an old game that works so flawlessly.

Understood, sir. Good simile, by the way -_-

And people seem to rest better with modifications in gameplay when it's brought about in a game series already known.

It all depends on how the implement there new or already used features into a game. If the pile all these new modes into a game but then it makes no sense when you playthrough it, then I wouldn't play that game. Same goes with any already used features. They put similiar gameplay from a pervious game but it fails in comparision because of different reasons then I wouldn't buy that game either.

I agree that too many new modes can spoil a game. For example if you look at James Bond: Everything or nothing in that they have the pointless ' Bond Sense' in which all the action is slowed down and he can target the enemies or change the guns easily with no worries about people attacking him. I mean it makes no sense!
It's the same with sports games. It annoys me that a games company doesn't feel that being able to play the sport is enough, so they add in different modes and shots! -_-
However I still feel that when a new idea is used correctly it can make something great.

I also realised this is only the second topic I have made in the whole time I have been here.

that was a VERY good analogy. Anyways, back on topic, i think pretty much the same as everyone else. If the changes are innovative, I don't care how drastic they are, as long as they are good and make the game fun. Same goes for keeping the same system and controls for a game and its 237123798187 sequels...if the original one is bad, then all the sequels are gonna be bad. If they are good, they can still get old. If they're excellent, then you have guaranteed fun no matter how many times you play it.

I prefer, like Anubis, the best of both worlds. i don't mind what controls they are, I just play.

I tend to prefer games that don't have touch control. I like the classic button games, but I am willing to try something innovative.
