Which Do You Prefer? Innovative or not?

Do you prefer a game to have new ideas and different controls?
Or do you prefer similar gameplay to other games you have?
Please tell me how you feel.
Personally I prefer games to try to do something different like the Wario Ware series. That's just my opinion though. -_-

The DS is a prime example. Once developers realise it's better to adapt traditional games (namely RTS's and FPS's) rather than create new 'intuitive' puzzle games it will be an awesome console.

Familiar controls are nice. So are new ones, as long as they're innovative enough. Personally, the Wario Ware series didn't appeal to me at all...

Both are good & bad at the same time so I'd like the wheels from the non-steering car and the steering from the non-wheels car. Best of both worlds. Understand? -_-

Understood, sir. Good simile, by the way -_-
And people seem to rest better with modifications in gameplay when it's brought about in a game series already known.

I agree that too many new modes can spoil a game. For example if you look at James Bond: Everything or nothing in that they have the pointless ' Bond Sense' in which all the action is slowed down and he can target the enemies or change the guns easily with no worries about people attacking him. I mean it makes no sense!
It's the same with sports games. It annoys me that a games company doesn't feel that being able to play the sport is enough, so they add in different modes and shots! -_-
However I still feel that when a new idea is used correctly it can make something great.
I also realised this is only the second topic I have made in the whole time I have been here.

that was a VERY good analogy. Anyways, back on topic, i think pretty much the same as everyone else. If the changes are innovative, I don't care how drastic they are, as long as they are good and make the game fun. Same goes for keeping the same system and controls for a game and its 237123798187 sequels...if the original one is bad, then all the sequels are gonna be bad. If they are good, they can still get old. If they're excellent, then you have guaranteed fun no matter how many times you play it.
