My last update was posted over two months ago, and I regret that I haven't been able to post an update since then. Nevertheless, I can finally spread some light on the GSW development situation. I regret to say that GSW development is now officially on hiatus, although anyone with half a brain could figure out that that has been the case since the last server test. AveneR is working with real game design firms and finishing his college years, and I'm busy with high school and web design work, and so we simply haven't had enough time to do justice on GSW.

So that you all don't go running off, I am going to try to make some minor updates so the game can at least be played again, even if only marginally better than the last server test. Unless another Flash developer comes along to help with the project, it will have to stay in its current state for a little while. So if you know any experienced Flash developers, tell them about GSW and see if they would be interested in helping the project.

So for now we don't have much to show, but I hope to be able to release another server test/open demo in a couple of weeks so people can have some fun again. If AveneR and I remain busy for too much longer, I have some ideas for another online multiplayer game which would be easier to make and which I believe you all would have more interest in playing.

Well, we were on to you Max but anything is good. Is it possible to keep the server test on as a beta version or are there significant updates needed?

You should finish that game, before an angry mob kills you :P

But I guess your school work comes first. :P

Well, I understand, and yes, school does come first, so good luck i school, and good luck to AveneR also.
And for this demo that we are playing, like the other 3 we had, (I think it was 3), will we have the same backround, or will you install one of the ones us members made?

I would like to use a new map, but unfortunately that still requires me to do some reworking of the map system, which is not really an option given the time restrictions. I'll try to spice things up a bit, but don't expect much to be different.

If at all possible, I'd (and probably many other members would, too) appreciate it if you could fix the "boundaries" of certain objects, like trees.

And as far as the map goes, adding bushes and shrubs would certainly make it more pleasing to the eyes. :P

I actually enjoyed the last server test. There wasn't alot to do, but just talking and walking around with members from GSSF was fun.

As in map stuff, or minigames.
Well, anything you can do will be good Max.
And I don't think you should make anymore characters, are you? It would be just too much work and we already have lots of characters.

That's always fun to do n.n

Nevertheless, Max, you should keep focusing on school like usual, and work on GSW when you have your free time. The usual GSW we've been playing is fine, so you can just open that up in a couple of weeks, so you don't have to go through extra work. Keep up the good work!

The only real "must" is to add some sort of moderating system to keep the creeps out...

I don't see the big fuss over this 'moderation system'. You guys just need to relax a bit and stop being so tight over rules.

We all knew you weren't making progress Max :P.
But what is this other game :P. It isn't a new an improved WotA is it XD (if it is, that's great, lol)

I'd just prefer it if someone could ban people that say "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee" and "pop" over and over again.

Or things like "I like ur ass" and "hey baby" to female characters.

I mean, GSW is basically like spam. It's somewhere to have fun. If you want to be all serious then the forum is here waiting for you.

I do think, however, that we need some crude form of moderation so we can stop it when it gets out of hand. Last time there was no way to sort things out other than have flame wars or whinge. I just don't want to see GSW turn into something where we stand around being polite and discussing politics or the latest hairstyles for our treasured poodles.

Right. Besides, it's downright mean what they say to some of the female players. :P

Also, that one kid before (I forget his name) was really annoying when he said "Whiz" and "pop" all the time. I don't know why it was, but it was... =/

Maybe their should be some sort of filter that stops you from saying too many things at one time. :P Like they do on some games.

this is a chatroom WD, why would we have filters to block people form speaking too much? XD

An option to ignore people would be nice. Then when they speak you just see "..." above their head or some symbol telling you that you have them blocked. Then you at least know when they're speaking so it doesn't get too confusing, but you don't have to read all their trash.

Not filters to stop people from talking, filters to stop spam. =/

Like when people press space and enter over and over. This causes lag for people when a certain character enters dialogue too fast or too much.

                                  AIM has it.

XD you're probably right. I am on all the time. But I'm planning on taking a small break so I'd like to know some specifics for when I come back. :P

I'm finally getting some real progress in learning flash in my Multimedia Authoring class, so I might be able to help with simple things like borders. Now all I need is a way to get flash on my PC...I don't even have enough cash for the student edition right now. Maybe I can get my PC teacher to let me install it on my PC with their registration number since I need to catch up since I missed school from being sick last week, but I'm not going to use any of those "free" registration numbers off the net.

Anyways, I'll see if there's any way I can help to get this off the ground again.

I hope you don't mind the large bump, but when do you plan on having another server test again?

I'm starting to get antsy on this subject too, I would be happy if you just released it in it's current form.

lol, I think you all just have to accept that Max is a perfectionist and that we won't be seeing an official release of GSW until all the main features are finished, tweaked and polished to perfection =).
That's a good thing btw. (there was an explaination here but it turned out to be too long and mostly incoherrent waffle as per usual :P)

                                                        I'm not asking about an official release, just a server test. I know that if we get server tests released too often we would all get bored and less excited about an official release, but it's been quite a long time since the last GSW Server Test. XP;
