    Clover Studios--the game developer renouned for its unique and creative three-dimensional cell-shaded games--is making a new game.

    Okami, as far as the story goes, sets you in a world where a sort of entity has deprived the world of everything vibrantly colorful (no, this is definately nothing like Magic Pengel). The local Sun God isn't too pleased about this, so he becomes a wolf and sets out to return what was once beautiful.

    Now, as far as I'm concerned, the details on the storyline are a bit sketchy for me. Whether the Sun God becomes a wolf, or if he sends out a wolf, is still a pressing matter. All I know is that you'll be able to control a wolf with a colorful sort of circular pedistal coveted in flames on your back.

    <spoiler>

    Now, for those of you who have seen the new The Legend of Zelda: the Twilight Princess game trailer, we must be on the same train of thought about this wolf character in Okami and the wolf that Link turns into in LoZ. But anyway ...

    </spoiler>

    From what I've watched from the trailers, the heroes, villians, and NPCs will speak in a sort of hybrid between Golden Sun and The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker type of dialogue; but with a more lively tone. Also, when they speak, their heads have a habit of spastically bobbing around, inflating, deflating, etc., which is rather akward even in serious cutscenes.

    You'll also have a little helper, which sort of reminds me of Inu-Yasha. Whilst he explains things to you in the game, he tends to jump up and down and talk rapidly with a gibberish, high-pitched tone, which would more than likely annoy some.

    Another interesting feature is the use of a calligraphy brush during gameplay. I'm not sure as to what certain tool for the PS2 that you would need to use (possibly the Eye Toy, or just simply the analog stick), but it seems that you use the brush for puzzles, certain interactive objects, and even fending-off enemies.

    With all of this in mind, I have one final thought to publish. This game is, apparently, heavily-influenced on ancient Japanese culture, mythology, and everything else that is quaint. Yes, there will be dragons. Yes, there will be strange and mystical creatures. And, yes, there will be cherry blossoms; tons of cherry blossoms. So, if you're a hardcore FPS freak and rather have an epic hi-tech sci-fi or modern street thug game to play, this is not for you. Even if you're interested a little in the Japanese culture, just be prepared to experience, layer by layer, of anything that existed back in Japan.

      Already heard about it, and I couldn't wait...until I saw it was on the PS2. Drat! Of all the systems, they choose the one I don't own. Anyways, I want to see a sequel on the Nintendo DS, or the Revolution, both would give it a better feel I think with the art aspect. But yeah, I loved Goemon's great adventure for it's culture(from the Mystical Ninja series) and I loved Viewtiful Joe's gameplay(and unique graphics) so I really couldn't wait for this. It's just too bad it's on a system with such...dare I say, I think, primative controls. After the Gamecube, Xbox, and Dreamcast, analoug triggers are a must for me, no matter what they do. I'm a bit worried about the Revo for that actually.
