[Max]

It's been quite a long time since my last news post, and people were curious about our status, so I felt it was a good time to post an update on GSW's development status:

As things currently stand, AveneR is busy with college and working at a game design studio, and I am busy with school and robotics. After about February 22nd, I should have some free time again every day, so I plan to start up development on GSW again about that time.

In the meantime, I am going to be trying to find a good time to run another server test. It will be the same as the last few server tests, but I figured people might like to play it again. It will either be a full-week long event like last time, or it might be a "long weekend" (Friday-Monday), depending on my time availability. Please check back here in the next few days to find out the dates the test will be held on.

Oh well. Great to hear that things are finally coming back together for you Max, I think you might be posting this a little late to avoid complaint topics, but at least we know things certainly won't get out of hand now.

Keep an eye on this topic SOT! I know you haven't done a server test before...

Oh, and since you'll be seeing this topic again soon Max, any chance of a different map along with this almost the exact same server test? I can imagine something with the same number of buildings, but a different layout, not being too hard to implement.

Yeah. The map we've been using is good, but a little... boring.

Putting more items in would make it more interesting, but too many items would make it hard to hold alot of players in one place. =X

I'll consider changing up the map a bit, though it will still have some of the same movement glitches we were experienceing before. But stay tuned to the GSW site over the next week or so for the date announcement.

What I thought is that you move too slow. Maybe you can adjust that or just make the map a little smaller.

I actually like the map size and movement myself, Diddy. It gave it a more casual feel than Golden Sun.

And Max, shouldn't you just be able to put an equivalent of a big black wall in the doorway to keep people from walking out into the "no zone"?

Errrr you really think that? Then please go play GS again on the GBA, this is something totally diffrent than GS. It's just a chatroom where you can walk with GS characters, and guess what? No fighting, no Psynergy, no adventuring, no running and only the last really bothers me.

Yes, he did, but don't expect to see these things added any time soon. People keep saying(hoping, more like) that the battling and psynergy will be added soon, when actually, that is at the moment so darn unimportant! You said it yourself, as the game progresses! But the game at the moment isn't progressing, so I think what we all want and need is just GSW getting released.

I'm glad you guys are still enthusiastic about GSW, I know that I sure am. About this running issue: the reason that we can't have running is because only Isaac, Felix, and Jenna actually have running sprites. I may try increasing the walking speed, but otherwise I don't see anything changing in that regard.

It'll be quite had editing the sprites to make them run because the GS sprites are in between 2D and 3D. The best I can do will make them look like cartoonish little things.

How about a vote then, after Max decides on which weeks would be best for the next test? If it's limited to one week, that's fine, but it would be cool to have a vote if Max has any choice.

I have to do some preparations first, but I would like to run the server test in two weekends if I can. This coming weekend I have a large commitment, so I'm thinking the weekend after that.

Uh, if you could Max. Could you make a private chat section thing in the new version of the game or something? The last server test, I tried to have a private discussion with someone, but everywhere we go people will pop up and spy on our discussion.

Max isn't putting anything new other than moderators in this one, so, post that on the suggestion board, and hopefully we'll have it in the server test after this one, which will( after tedious studying of Max's server test style) probably be announced as coming at the begining of summer...then end up in early August. But, it'll have some real revisions to it, seeing as how Max'll have free time then.

^all guess work, buuut, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that's how things go.

Blink is right, nothing new will be added to the server test coming up. But if you make a topic in the suggestions forum then I'll try to put it into the next version. Private conversations are already on our to-do list though, so don't worry.
