As you know, Max is just a student who has to pay for things like hosting and forums as well as other things in real life. He has spent his time developing GSW for us all to use and he has informed me that he needs funds to continue development.

So, we came up with this,

The Golden Sun and Golden Sun: TLA sections as well as the Site-Related sections will be available for free. However, things like the General Discussion area as well as the Common Room will be pay only.

You will need to pay the 2.95USD/month fee to have access to those forums.

Starting tomorrow, April 2nd, this will go into effect. Sorry for such short notice but if you want GSW and access to those forums, I suggest you find a way to pay this fee. One way is you can mail a cheque/check to Max (I'm sure he will make a post with an address), or Paypal. I'm sure Max will add to this with other ways of payment.

Tomorrow, all accounts will be locked out and the only forums you will see are the ones I listed above.

Also, forgive me for posting this so late in the day, but Max and I couldn't co-ordinate our plans and we had a hard time coming up with a suitable idea.

I'm sorry people, but unfortunately the situation has gotten worse than I had ever forseen. We've thought about this long and hard, and the only way we can continue is with your help.

Starting tomorrow, when you log in (must log out first) for the first time, you will be greeted with a form where you can submit your payment information. Paypal will be our main payment service, but I will also accepts checks sent to my PO Box as well (email me for the address).

Although Nick specified 2.95 USD/month, I cannot confirm that as a final price yet, so please check back tomorrow. I think it is well worth the small fee to be able to participate in our great community. Those who donate will also recieve special status in GSW when it is released this summer, so it is not all for nothing.

Again, sorry if you are disappointed or surprised, but this is a necessary step in the evolution of this site and forum. Please check back tomorrow to learn the final details.

I would love to help, but I'm not able to pay simply because of my parents' restriction. The only way out is to wait another 2 years until I start working. I'm terribly sorry. Does that mean I can only moerate the GS forums and Site Related?

Mars, we have yet to decide that. Depending on how many people pay, we may need less moderators than what we currently have.

Nick, Max; the point of an April Fools joke is to either make it somewhat believable (SuperTorrents *Offensive language*), make it so far-fetched and ridiculous that there is no way it could happen (YTMND), or fool around with the layout of the site (4q.cc). I'm disappointed in this one.

Split, if you want some reasons why this is an April fools joke, then here ya go:

Max doesn't want site activity to go down no matter what (i think :) ), Making people pay to use the site would do that
If he needed money for GSW, he would've made a topic in the GSW section
Making people pay to use the site is a sure fire way to kill it, Max doesn't want his site to go under

Nice try fellars. Heh, best April Fools joke, If anyone here has a psp and is into homebrew. Last night Fanjita posted on his site saying he was quiting becuase it got too hard and there where other systems out there. Quite obivous it was a joke but he had us all worried. Best surprise was he released a new version of his eloader after he said it was a joke.
