I've been curious if there is any such program that gives greater control and flexibility with downloads. As in, being able to pause and resume a download for another time, etc.

    Any suggestions?

I've been looking for one myself, I've had a lot of trouble because of my impaired dowloading speeds. MMO's take more time to download than to level up. FlashGet and Download Accelerator, I've tried. THose didn't seem to help. I'll Google it and check Download.com and see what I can find.

Have you ever tried Opera built-in download manager? It may sound weird, but it's really comfortable and it allows you to do all of that funny stuff like resuming older downloads etc.

The one in Firefox isn't too bad either, I'm pretty confortable with that one.

But it always deletes the stopped downloads after restarting it (or at least mine Firefox does it)

Download Them All for Firefox and The built in manager for Opera are good.

              Wget/Kget for KDE/Linux are good.

Love the FF manager.... But if you're talking about a client, I recommend Ares....

Firefox can do it, but sometimes when I pause the downloads it refuses to start them again.

I think the latest patch fixed that, but I haven't tried it yet. Don't have anything I particularily want to download right now.
