Well since i've learned how to build a computers a few months ago, i'm finally ready to start buying parts and making one as a little summer project. The only problem is, I don't know many websites that sell parts for cheap prices. So for all those that might know a good place that I can order parts from....Please help

Tiger Direct.com. I havn't checked around, but the prices seem reasonable. On top of that, they have a HUGE selection of barebone towers, hard drives, processors, motherboards, you name it. If they still have it, get a viper case. Havn't tested it myself, but it has great features I have read about in their magazine, and on their site.

NewEgg and ZipZoomFly are the two best sites for purchasing *any* computer related components. At this point in time, I believe NewEgg has the largest selection of any such site.

For stuff like fans and CPU coolers and cases, check out SVC, which usually has better prices and some cool items as well.

If you would like suggestions on what to buy, let us know what you will be using the computer for and your budget and I can try to help you out.

Well, i haven't really made a budget yet, im still just looking at motherboards.

For starters, im trying to get a board that is compatible with a pentium 4 or higher (i'll even take an AMD), and if it doesn't cost a fortune, i'll even get a dual processor.

Dual proscessors are really spendy. I've seen 'em get up to $1000. But personally, I like extra PCI slots for mine.

Yeaah, Dual processors are may dig deep into my already thin wallet. Well, im open for suggestions on a really good but cheap motherboard, with the above specs.

I'm not that fluent with motherboards, but I'd suggest getting at least a 2.8Ghz pentium4 proscessor, and for all the software we have nowadays, 2-4 gigs of ram. If you're the only person using the computer, a 40 gig hard drive should do it. Unless you have an unusally large stack of programs.

Contrary to what Mr.T. said, I would not recommend going with a Pentium processor if you are trying to save money. A good Socket 939 motherboard and an Athlon64 3000+ or 3200+ will give you the best bang for your buck. Also, never skimp on a hard drive, especially given their prices. A 40gb hard drive now costs the same as an 100gb hard drive, so there is no excuse to go for the smaller drive.

If you want help with specific parts, hit me up on MSN or AIM.

Thanks Max, I will make sure to give more details once I make a budget, once my school gets closer to letting out. (I have a lot of work on my plate right now :) )
