Which Game Are You Most Looking Forward To? For the end of 2006...

My brain is having a war with itself over if I'm more excited about Twilight Princess, or Neverwinter Nights 2.
As for things I wouldn't mind having for X-mas: New Super Mario Bros, Metroid for the DS, Daxter for PSP, and the new Katamari for the PSP.

I know it's your first time here, but if you could put a little more depth in your posts, that'd be great. Thanks. - MD

Saving up for a DS Lite, and if I do get one, it'll be Final Fantasy III and Phantom Hourglass, as well as all the other DS games I've been missing out on.

Crystal Chronicles for the Wii seems like a pretty promising title, especially with the Wi-Fi capabilities.

There are so many truly excelent games coming out, but I'm 100% sure I'm getting only one of those games, and thaat's the one I'm most looking forward to: Twilight Princess. I'm not sure if I ever wanted to play a game more than this one.

But I might get it just for 3D-2D esque graphics (??). Hell, if they got rid of the grid-by-grid movement, I'd definetly get it!

And just a note on what Aquamarine said: you can enter "lobbies" with up to 16 people, and from there you can chat, trade, or battle.
Nintendo would be foolish not to include Wi-Fi in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl.

Some other bad news: Matt Cassmassina (how on earth do you spell that?) from IGN, has hinted in the latest podcast that Metroid Prime 3: Corruption might be delayed.
The key word here is might; but he said he heard "whisperings" and "hints" from a number of sources that the game might be pushed off (and he insisted on it).
Just thought I'd throw that in there.

I'd still feel somewhat foolish walking into a store and buying a Pokemon game, but these titles look enticing enough to make me want to do it. Another reason I should be buying a DS.

Twilight Princess is good too, but they recently announced that it won't be supporting the GCN controler. So I predict a very good game with very sloppy controls. The Wii version of Mario 64, but worse because it's unforgivable <<

The Wii controls won't be sloppy just becaue it's the Wii controler, they may be sloppy because the game wasn't designed for them - it was made for the gcn controller - and because the Wii controls were only concieved a few short months ago.

I meant Mario 64 DS. THat game suffered because the touch screen controls weren't very well implemented. So basically it was an awesome game designed for n46 controls that was badly modified for the DS. I fear TP will turn out the same. An excellent game that suffers because it wasn't designed for this style of controls.

They have been trying to implement motion sensing since 2001, which just means that the Wii controls probably weren't concieved only a few months ago. They've probably been adding the Wii controls to Zelda even before TP's release date was pushed forward for the first time, which was very long ago.
But yes, I understand what you mean about the Mario 64 controls now. I guess it's always possible TP will turn out to be the same thing, but still...

Not for me it's not. Man it's been ages since there's been any real news on a release out here in Europe. It's been out for a year in America but not here. There is an October 2006 date at the moment but since it's changed so many times before, I don't hold much hope.

I'm quite looking forwards to the new Crash Bandicoot game on DS. It's got new developers, a japanese company I belive. Its not a platformer ( Yay!) Kinda like a mario party crossed with Wario ware. Looks decent, might make me like him more, and give him a better image.

This is pretty funny. I'll explain...
Nintendo at the moment is totally ****ing up with Donkey Kong. First, they let the Donkey Kong from Rare playing in Mario games. This isn't all that bad, except they rewrote the backlines of DK. As you perhaps know, Cranky Kong the old guy is the DK we know from the Arcade game, with DK Jr being the Donkey Kong we know now. Now Nintendo said, that they are both the same person. Which means there still is a DK Jr running around somewhere after not being in a game like forever!?
With DK from DKC appearing in Mario games, we can't assume that he's the arcade DK aka a younger Cranky Kong which totally ****S up the timeline in Donkey Kong Country because DK and Mario are around the same age. And to totally proof it's ****ed up, they even added Diddy and Dixie in Mario sports with Mario fanboys now thinking they 'own' these characters to. They even gave DK a whole new look, which all included the HORRIBLE 'Toothy Grin'.
And now ladies and gentlemen... BEHOLD the 'Toothy Grin'...
I STRONGLY advice pregnant woman and childeren below the age of 14 not to watch.
...

Here it is... The look is just terrible, not only did Rare never used teeth, they look ****ing ugly to! I guess yall played Mario Kart DS once, there DK is at his worst... Grinning with those teeth ALL the time.
And now look at this:
http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/5883/200pxdonkeykongrl7.jpg
THIS is the Donkey Kong I know. This look is designed by Rare. DK looks strong, manly and as a impish smile on his face. WITHOUT teeth.
Now that doesn't seem too bad... BUT! Nintendo continued making DK games after Rare was gone. They made 3 quick Donkey Konga games which were all Super Happy Inovation Tittles, aka S.H.I.T games. Much like Mario Sunshine and Zelda the Wind Waker. Also they thought the DK franchise wasn't "fresh" enough to appeal to the younger generation... And BECAUSE they thought so... They made a games called DK Jungle Beat which just ignores any gameplay Rare created, except for the Bananas which barely even count. Also the surroundings and characters were totally replaced... For NOTHING good I tell ya.
Now Nintendo also did something 'good'. They hired a pretty unknown company called Paon to make a game called DK King of Swing. Which atleast looks like a DKC game because of the suroundings, the enemies and the characters in the game. They also where making DK Bongo Blast... Which would be a replacement for the super awesome Donkey Kong Racing Rare was making till Nintendo just sold them to Microsoft...
SO... If Nintendo ever disapoints me like this again. They will lose me as a custommer...

But you have to look at things realisticaly... The Donkey Kong Country games were good, very good actually, but they were a complete copy of the 2D Mario games. Rare was always best at copying Nintendo. I loved Diddy Kong Racing. It's still one of the best racing games I've ever played. But to tell you the truth, I'm not sure I would have bought Donkey Kong Racing. I hate all DK characters appart from DK, Diddy and a little bit Dixie. One of the best things about Diddy Kong Racing was that all the drivers were different animals. That was really cool. In Donkey Racing it seems that all the playable characters would have been those other, stupid monkeys from the DK series. It also looked like it had nothing new. Oo, wow, your vehicle is an animal! Now it's time for DK64. That game was... well, quite crap. It was totaly unoriginal, and the only point of the game is that they wanted to have EVEN MORE Golden Bananas than Mario 64 had Stars. Every puzzle was like this: you see a switch with a characters face/weapon, you change your character and use his move. That's the whole game. Nintendo is now trying to finaly make DK what he was before, something new and different. Though I still don't understand why they left Diddy out of Jungle Beat.
I am a big fan of the StarFox series, but I didn't buy either Adventures OR Assault, because the reviews weren't very good. You shouldn't buy a game because it's got your fave character included(that's why Nintendo put Mario in every single game they make), you should get it because it's a good game.

DKC a Mario rip off!? That's almost an insult. I mean yes they are similair but DEFFINATLY not copies. DKC had totall diffrent gameplay. You had to controll a tag team instead of only one character, you could pick barrels and throw them, DKC had animal buddies (Yoshi infact is a copy of DKC's animal buddies) Barrel blasting, collecting a coin in every level (which Nintendo also copied for New Super Mario Bros) throwing your team mate, roll attacks, bonus levels and don't forget... Mine karting. The only thing Rare copied from Mario is that you can kill enemies by jumping on the head, and instead of collecting coins you collect bananas... K-O-N-G letters and DK Balloons also gave you a extra life. Not to mention that every character in DKC plays diffrent, DK is strong and heavy, he climbs and swims somewhat slower then Diddy, however he could kill heavier enemies by jumping on their head which Diddy couldn't. Diddy had the uber roll attack, Dixie had the helicopter spin and a shorter and somewhat slower roll attack then Diddy. And Kiddy was a heavy baby which could break through wood and bounce over water by rolling. Now you see why DKC is nowhere a copy of Super Mario.
Diddy Kong Racing I could accept as a clone from Mario Kart. However Rare added extra gameplay by having planes and hovercraft and... excually an Adventure Mode. DKR had Boss races and more gimmick tracks then Mario Kart had. Donkey Kong Racing actually would be very diffrent, yeah you would ride a animal but thats even better! In DKC animal buddies where a big part of the gameplay, and with having even more animals then Diddy Kong Racing had verciles this game would be even more unique then DKR.
DK64... Lets not talk about that too much. It did entertain me when I was a kid...
And the reason why Diddy wasn't in Jungle Beat? Well thats because they wanted to give DK a 'fresh start' that means that they just ignored everything from the old DK games, which includes characters, enemies and locations. DK was the only character in there which actually appeared outside Jungle Beat. Jungle Beat was a OK game, but not if you see it as a DK game. It felt like Nintendo just spitted in the face of the creators of DKC by making Jungle Beat so much... Diffrent. I still dont see why DK wasn't fesh enough to appeal to the younger generation. Mario is lasting for atleast 20 years, Zelda for around 15 years... DK just 12 years. It was just an excuse to rewrite everything Rare did their best for.
