Mathematics has proven that if you gather 23 people and put them in a room, the odds of their sharing a birthday are just over 50%. That's pretty amazing. So I thought that it would be an interesting experiement if we gathered all our active users and found out if any of us have the same birthday (the year of birth is not taken into account). So just post your birthday, and we'll see what happens. (June 2nd)

Here is a brief guide to the chances relevant to the number of participants:

02 ppl: 01%

05 ppl: 03%

10 ppl: 12%

23 ppl: 51%

30 ppl: 71%

50 ppl: 97%

60 ppl: 99%

60 people is not a bad representation for the 6 million, considering 99-100% of the world's population share a birthday with someone else.

With six billion people and only 365.26 days, there's only a 6.0876666666666666*10^-8 percent chance of someone not havng the same birthday as you.

I wonder how many people here have their birthdays on Feb 29. That's only possible on leap years and I am sure you all know that a leap year happen every four years. I have yet to know anyone who does have a b-day on Feb 29.

I like a lot of single songs too... Bands I need to look at: Plastic Constellations Cauterize Patent Pending And a bunch of local bands that you'll probably never hear of. Pandora rocks. I'm running out of things to say here. Perhaps I like duct tape? Yeah. This likely won't be touched for another year when my tastes have completely changed.

Thing is, though... how could the prob of two people in the same room having the same birthday be 1%? Should be more like... 1 in 366, which is far less than 1%. :P

Actually 1 in 366 is the probability of one person having a birthday on any given day.
