Pirates Of The Caribbean Disney's new pet series.

Pirates 2 has just come out and made 6 times more money in its opening weekend than Superman Returns. It's a great movie, and the actors are really good at filling their roles. Disney seems to be milking it for all its worth too, with at least one sequel definitely on the way.
So, what do you think of this series, and any comments on how the second movie ended?

I didn't quite like the sequel as much as the first one, it just doesn't seem as 'fun'. The overall mood was too dark to what I was expecting, and there simply weren't enough action scenes (though the island escape scene was pure genius).

Actually, there's a lot of fun and humor in it, it's just covered with bits of action to prevent it from being a downright comedy flick.
Jack is definitely dead. But they'll probably bring him back the same way that Barbossa (yes, that's spelled with two S') was brought back from the dead.

I found some of the jokes kinda a
huh?
But for the most part I found the movie nearly perfect. I was BLOWN AWAY by the ending...
I think Jack is still alive, he was thrown into the mouth of it and he cut it open. Im predicting, since squids like that dont chew thier food...

Just saw the movie today. Yes, I know I'm late to the ride, but I got to it eventually.
"Oh my God!!!" was my reaction when I saw the ending. The return of Captain Barbossa? And what about Jack? WHAT THE HELL?! (Yes, I am using profanity)
Really summed up the overall dark mood of the movie, which on the whole, was fantastic. Lots of great action scenes (fighting on top of a giant wheel? genius! :agitated:) and the whole Davey Jones, Flying Dutchman thing worked out much better than I expected (I was skeptical at first, but it was pulled off well).
However, the thing that will stick out the most is the ending. As pHantOm put it, I was completely blown away by it. A huge, incredible shock that really sets the pace for the sequel.

I like Wind Dude's suggestion that the same method that Captain Barbossa came back to life might be the same way Jack will return.

I really loved it! I wasnt expecting it to be much better then the first movie but... It sure came VERY close.
Ohhh and Captain Barbossa wasnt dead. He was un-cursed thats all. Atleast that is what I remember. Same goes for the fat guy and the glass-eye guy and the monkey.

Don't forget about the last significant event of the movie; Davey Jones' heart is in the hands of Lord Beckett, and in effect the entire Royal Navy/the monarchy.

Some believe Jack is dead, others that he is still (somehow) alive. Therefore, saying that Johnny Depp will star in the next movie pretty much gives it away then, no? And that has been the most important selling point for the Pirates films.
I dunno, just something that occured to me. Thoughts?

Also, on more than one occasion, movies trailers have revealed something in the movie that wasn't known before. For example, in trailers leading up to Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, we saw a white Gandalf, proving that he had come back.
For those who had not read the books, this was a discovery. They could do the same with Jack Sparrow.

Taken from Wikipedia, this is a pretty cool bit of information about Dead Man's Chest:
The actors were not told, prior to filming, that Geoffrey Rush would be appearing in the movie. They were told, before the scene was shot, that the person coming down the stairs would be Anamaria from The Curse of the Black Pearl; the looks of surprise on their faces as Rush descends is genuine.

- The end of the first movie saw a very, very, very dead Barbossa. Jack threw the Medallion he stole to Will*, Will cuts himself and drops the two Medallions in the chest of Aztec Gold. The curse is lifted off of Barbossa just as Jack shoots in the general area of Barbossa's heart, which is just as bad as a headshot. Barbossa says "I feel... cold" and falls to the floor. Preeeetty dead.
- As for Barbossa's crew, the curse was lifted off of them while they were dishing it out with the Royal Navy. They gave up when they saw they were no longer undead. Later on in the second movie, Mr. Fat Pirate and Mr. Wooden Eye escape prison thanks to the little doggy with the key.
------
Hey guys, you remember the scene in the beginning of Pirates 2 where we see Jack for the first time in the whole movie? The one where he busts out of the coffin in the ocean? Think before that, where we see the big fortress building.
What's up with that place? Why was it holding the picture of Davy Jones key? What's with all the coffins being plunged into the ocean, and the unhappy people?
My sister and I decided that it was the Gates to Hell or something along those lines. It certainly does look forsaken by God, doesn't it?

I say it's real good but I don't think as good as the first. Inividualy maybe but in comparison no chance.
I don't think Jack is dead and I don't know how Geoffry Rush is still alive.
WD- As for that 'gates of hell' place. They also had people in cages and dragging people inside, I thought at first it was just a slave port or something. Looked creepy though.

Film= Good stuff there, lots darker than the first film.
Ending= wtf?!?! Okay, something wrong here. Right, as what WD said. Barbarossa is dead. Dead as a dinosaur. Yet he's there. And he shouldn't. Whats more is I expected more. Barbarossa walks along, says something i cant remember BANG! The End. Confnused my head so much as to spoil the series for me. Unfortunate, as i loved the first Film.

And it's a surprising ending, but you shouldn't give up on the series. In fact, if anything, this is a good thing, because it guaranteed another sequel for you to watch, not to mention adding some very nice plot twists.

I hope Davey Jones is in the next one as well. He was a good character. He also looked nothing like the actor who was playing him which I guess credits the the people behind the film.
