What empire was the best in the Middleages?
I say Poland because it beat Teotonic Knights to a fine deal, saved all Europe from the Turks, and had the largetest empire in Europe.

Why, why, WHY is Rome not up there? They were definitely the most powerful of all the empires. But I guess I'd go with England because they are pretty much the "image" of the Middle Ages.

By the way, the poll is messed up so I'd have to vote for, say England AND Other for it to accept the vote.

I guess Rome was too much of an obvious choice. Ah well, cheers to Henry VIII.

They were in Europe, so they were probably affected in some obscure way.

Rome should've been three chioces; the Roman Empire, Byzantium, and the Holy Roman Empire. I am irritated.

Good call, PS. I was always interested in the Holy Roman Empire, especially during the reign of Charlegmane (sp?). But there's no doubt that Britain had one of the largest and most elaborate empires in history.

The split of the Roman empire was probably a reason why it's not up there. Since the Western empire fell in 476, with the fall of Ravenna, but the Eastern empire made it all the way up to 1461. The western empire is a tad before the middle-ages IMO, since it already existed before the yearcounting. The Eastern empire lost power bit by bit, whilst not doing anything themselves, making them rather useless.

I vote for France or England. Both made stupid mistakes, but both also did the greatest deeds, while other countries did not.

Obviously I'd say England but it's not just because I live here. It's because of all the legends that are associated with Ye Olde England.

                                          Um?!

                                          The middle ages people o_O!!!

                                          Thats like 1400 - 1700

The British Empire was NOT part of the middle ages, it ended them.

Pre 1400 was the Dark Ages, post 1700 was the industrial/discovery/British (=P) age

With that in mind...Im gonna go for the Holy Roman Empire...which would be Germany.

I woulda said the Mongols but they were about 1100 or 1200 or something...

Well technically, the middle ages did begin at around the division of the Roman Empire into the West and East (about 1000-1200).
