If you or your company were to release a console today, what would you name it? I'm hoping we actually get good suggestions....

It's got a hint of retro to it. I would design it around a liquid freon cooling system. :D

At least it's design is creative!

I find it difficult to pick good names. I'd call it something weak like GamesPower or something bad like that. I'm bad with names. :D

Why? Because there's a severe lack of "O-Matic"s in today's world of gizmos.

Well, Nintendo's reasoning on not choosing the name "Revolution" was that it was too difficult to market in different parts of the globe... it's convoluted enough just saying Nintendo Revolution in English, let alone in markets like Japan, etc.
On a side note, I think the codename for the DS when it was in development was the "Nitro".

It's 3, like all the competition, so it's up to date! It's also based on previous GameSystem game consoles, and the GameSystem brand.

I'll rival your GameSystem THR33 with my Vcylinder 720!

Excuse me for being crude.
A console name? iGame. You know that Apple's going to enter the market eventually.

I thought I skimmed the first page to make sure. Alas.
A stringray? You mean that, say, it has the potential of stabbing you in the heart (x10 if you're Steve Irwin?)

Well...I suppose the Sol would be pretty awesome. Alternate model that plays the same and looks different would be called the Luna. They would run off solar power.
I'm so original.

They wouldn't just use a trademark from one of its franchises, because all the other franchises would feel left out. =P

Darn, I can't compete with that. Are you sure you're going to make any money off it though? You don't want to go out of business.

AHHHHH! Off topic!!
Do you think the name of the console really has that much bearing on sales? The Wii seems to sell just fine...

You know that the Japanese word for two is "ni" correct, if Nintendo calls the next generation of the Wii the Wii two, but uses the Japanese term, it would be called the Wii Ni, Don't hurt me.

Wow, I managed to post without making mention of the fact that Wii Ni could be used in so many jokes... oh bugger.

Well, they've used the Gameboy name millions of times, and they've used NES twice. Also, it seems to be popular for consoles to have the same name now, so I wouldn't be surprised if they used Wii again, considering the succees of the console.

Anyway, The Peanutbutter 'N Jelly 5000 seems like a decent name for a console.

Personally, as the successor to the Wii, I think Nintendo should go for "Niio". The double I's ("ii") is reminiscent of Wii, while the name sounds similar to "Neo", which if market properly, would give the feeling of something, new, innovative, fresh, etc. - all over again.
Niio. Nintendo Niio.

Ninty's next console's name will be entirely different IMO. Not quite sure what that'd be though.
