          I was going to write something about inept American policemen until I realised it happened in the UK.
          At least it was 5 years ago.

              I doubt that the squirrel consciously wanted the policemen to follow it. I think its 100% more likely the squirrel was running away from the policemen and it just so happened that the goods were at the bottom of the nearest tree.
