Besides 'almost' getting hit by a car covers a lot of things. With roads like England I can't say I'm suprised. I can probably claim at least 2 incidents in my life that "almost being hit by a car" covers.

1. I once got swept out to sea on a holiday in portugal and got rescued by surfers

2. I once got cautioned by the police (like, a step down from being arrested) for anti-social behaviour.

3. I once got so drunk at a party that I came home in a taxi and walked half a mile up my hill without my shoes on.
