Crysis

And if I remember right, one of the Half Life 2 games used the Havoc engine.
And there's a crapload of Crysis mods out, or ones in development that change the game into something entirely different. A James Bond mod is among them, along with the WWII one WD was talking about.
But last Friday, my friend brought his PC over to my house and we hooked it up to my 54" high-def TV. =D The bass. was. AWESOME. You haven't played this game until you've heard it in 6.1 surround sound. :joy:

Lol Toasty I did that with my 360 and Halo, but with 8.1 speakers and a 42" TV

Oh, and I read in a magazine that because Crysis isn't doing very well they're going to try and port it to 360 because of bad sales. Dont hold my word for it though, I only read it in a magazine.

It's a renderer, animation, and physics engine, along with crapload of other stuff all packed into one. Most games like Halo use at least two engines, one for graphics and another for physics.
It has everything that's been done before in one and more, basically.
The Source engine used by Valve is using a modification of the Havok engine for physics.
Anyway, Unreal 4 has been in the works for a while... just read it yourself.

Crytek announced that a film of Crysis is in the works. It is currently unknown which production company will make the film.
Found on the wiki page on Crysis.

And since we were talking about how the CryEngine is so awesome, it should've been obvious what I was talking about.
Now let's not fill this topic with spam like we have a few others.

And WD, do you know where to get the sandbox software that people use for modding Crysis? My friend is interested.

Yeah, you're playing the same story, but this time you'll play as Psycho. It's Psycho's story instead of Nomad's.
For example, there was a point in Crysis where Nomad was securing a harbor and Psycho was covering him with his sniper. Instead of you securing the harbor as Nomad, you'll be Psycho providing the sniper support. There were plenty of times where Nomad was separated from Psycho, so I guess we'll be seeing what Psycho was doing at those times.
Hopefully the game ends a bit after what we saw at the end of Crysis or I'll feel a bit cheated.
Tell him to upload it, Toasty. I gave up on my map because I couldn't find out how to prevent the trees I put down popping in suddenly.

In addition to the single player campaign, Crytek has also emphasized the multiplayer modes, entitled Crysis Wars. In addition to the Instant Action and Power Struggle modes of the original Crysis, Crysis Warhead also features Team Instant Action mode, as well as 21 playable maps upon release. Crytek has made numerous changes to the multiplayer gameplay including tighter vehicle controls, weapon rebalancing, and nanosuit alterations. Crysis Wars is included on its own disc, has a separate installer and logo, and is considered a separate game by Crytek; regardless, it comes bundled with Warhead at no additional charge.

Anyway, my friend modified the AI in Warhead to be incredibly insanely hard.
Like, they start shooting at you the exact second that you pull the trigger. And no matter where you approach them from, they know you're comming.
He plays with god mode on of course.

But my system keeps crashing a minute or two after I start it up.
....probably because it's unstable from the overclocking. My new CPU isn't as easy to OC as my old one was.

Crysis Warhead is an awesome game, and it's better than Crysis because the game elements seem more balanced. Maximum shield is a bit more useful, and you aren't forced to sneak around/use cloak as much. You can if you want to, and it certainly makes the game easier, but it's also possible to just run in and start shooting in some levels.
Then again, I played it on easy, so I can't really say anything until I play it on normal/hard. I kinda just wanted to play through the game without it being dificult at first.
But really, regardless of the difficulty, the final boss battle sucked. It was even worse than Crysis's boss battle. I mean, it felt like a repeat of a previous battle in the game, only without

It's a better game overall. The firefights are more frantic, the AI is a LOT better at dealing with attacks from a long distance, the aliens are less retarded and more fun to fight, the characters are less flat, and the cut scenes are actually worth watching. Except I pretty much didn't follow the story at all for some reason, I'm not sure why. I guess because at the beginning they were like "lol here's the story" and then just gave you a gun and left you to your devices. I remember something about a container and aliens. Oh well.
One thing is, it would've been great if they could have kept the large, elaborate levels of Crysis mixed with the more frantic pace of Warhead, but that may be asking too much. It was also far too short. Sweet, but too short.
Crysis Wars, the online multiplayer component that comes with (or can be bought separately online) is a HELL of a lot better than what came with the original Crysis and is actually worth speaking of. Team Deathmatch is in (as it should've been in the original) and Power Struggle is a bit more fun as well. No CTF though. WHY?!
