Why must people be so ignorant these days? I mean, in older days, people could talk without all this new "shortcut" typing, and be perfectly logical. If you've seen TRT, you've no doubt seen someone has pissed me off on YouTube. The very fact that people that cannot think logically, and insult others by calling them noobs and the like while they can barely spell the word "you" is just getting ridiculous. The newest reply by this one guy:

    Quote

HAHHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA YOU WOULDNT KNOW NOW WOULD YOU DUMB**** it is called new people join sonic team and screw up everything and changed it to eggman and if you did play sonic adventure 2 or sa2b when he gives out the messege its the robotnik empire so hah beat that ****ing asshole your still a noob to sonic games that you have to research your answer

How do these people get through day to day life? Please tell me.

And people like this exist even OFFLINE! I mean the people that are just tards for no reason. As if they have nothing better to do then fire off insults that take you and HOUR to figure out that they were trying to insult you. And, I'm not willing to get on the topic of Grade 8's these days. They all seem to act as if they are the next bloody "Snoop Dog" or whatever.

Feel free to berate, discuss and share about these people, and the like.

I am forced to try to talk properly on GSSF because everyone would think I'm a 'noob'. I've known dialect English my entire life, and do not try to speak or write British English (being redundant) unless it's relating to school where it's required. *sob sob*
On MSN Messenger, you would have blocked me already. I only speak dialect there.

But anyway, I highly refrain from judging someone based on what they type. I know friends who are very intelligent, and type 'nooby' on the net because they can.

I try to type normally most of the time but sometimes I just get lazy and start typing like short and quick. And in IM I mostly type normally but sometimes its fun to type crazy like me and crystal Ryu were talking like this for prob 30min straight:

        YOU LYKEZ MCDONALDZ LAWZ?!
NO WAIZ LOLZ I HATEZ MCDONALDSZ LAWLZORZ

        and stuff...don't ask ;)

I'm not saying that it's bad to completely use it. I admit it is fun occasionally for MSN, or TRT etc. But the people who have to take it that extra step by (DAMNIT LIVE 365! Stop crapping out on me!) trying to say that it is perfect English, and insist on saying their typing is perfect, just annoy me out of my mind. It may be fun to use now and then for fun effects, but it's getting out of hand.

And this isn't just me berating horrible typers. If you want to... rant about some kind of person or just say something, throw it out there. There's at least ONE type of person that annoys everyone. I especially hate Grade 8s.

I'm in a lucky position where there are few annoying people. Those who would have annoyed me left school when GCSE's finished.
@Nos: What is that guy arguing with you about? Is he saying that Eggman was still called Robotnik in SA2? You might want to ask him why his theme song was E.G.G.M.A.N. then.

I'm in the same boat. It really pisses me off when say I get a text message from my mum with 'u' and 'r' in it. I think the only abbreviations I seldom use are 'IMO' and 'W/e'. People need to learn how to type online, I think GSSF did that too me for the same reason as .eugine.

On a forum or whatever social network, I feel that there is no excuse not type "normal" because you have the luxury of time. It's not instant messaging, where you might want to type faster.

For example if it's an online game, I'll avoid using the Shift as much as possible and skip using periods at the end of sentences to get my message across faster.

What I don't understand is if people do things like say "sexi" or "nao" or things that mean the same word but more letters to be "cute" or something...

And absolutely everyone I know annoys me to a certain extent. Including you guys. But I love you all anyway. ;)

Yeah, no doubt, it's always frustrated me so much. It's as if by using stupid abbreviations they're making themselves out to be cool in some way. If people can't take the time to just type as they would speak (roughly at least), then at least make it somewhat reasonable.

                            Get this.

About 2 months ago now, a girl walked past us ( me & friends) and she actually said out loud: " Oh Emm Gee". She didn't say Oh my god, she actually said the letters. We were all laughing at her, and she shot us the biggest evils ever, but we were still laughing.

I once heard a girl say "oh emm gee!" - five times in the same sentence. Annoying is an understatement. :P

I find myself saying "double u tee eff?" sometimes, so I'm guilty I guess. But it's usually when I'm being sarcastic or when I'm in a situation where swearing is inappropriate. I'm sure it's no excuse though :P

I say that and oh emm gee just to make fun of it in real life. What ticks me off is when I read papers that were physically written and actually read things like "u" and "dunno", "wanna" and "kinda" and have smiley faces on it. It's even worse when it's schoolwork. I bet that the teachers have fun with it too.

I'll sometime use those words in my writings, but only in the rough draft, or in dialog if that is how a character talks. Otherwise, I have to go through my papers with a fine tooth comb to try and remove such terms. They don't look that good for college level writing.

I don't know about you guys but when people use the word 'like' several times in their sentence, it annoys me. I have this guy in class who use 'like' more then 20 times just to answer a simple question. I know that guy has a speech problem but man, it is annoying.
If you use the word 'like' in 'I like apples' then I'm alright with it. However then they are saying, for example, 'OMG! Like so, I totally, like, told the little *beep* off, and she like, totally flips out on me, like try to slap me....' That annoys me to no end.

Getting on topic, I had always type out my words, or at least, attempt to. I use to view internet as a way to practice spelling, so in the end, it turn into a habit. I personally hate to read 'chat speak' because I do not know all the short cuts. I do use 'lawl' and 'brb' or 'gtg' but I keep that to the bare minimum.

On another topic out teachers had already put up a rule about chat speak in our paper. She said that once she got a paper that has almost every chat speak short cuts you can imagine on it. That was the saddest thing I ever heard.

As for talking on MSN, I personally don't mind it as much. I do think it is a pain trying to figure out what the other person is trying to say, but I'll be more annoy with a sentence full of icons then a chalk full of chat speak.

'like' in the context you're describing is that of a 'filler', a regional variation of 'er' or 'um' if you like, it is used so often to allow the speaker to think of what to say next. It's still pretty annoying though...

i tend to avoid the internet speak unless i'm pissing about, even then there are some i wont go near...anyone who says ZOMG should have their larynx removed, set alight and shoved up their arse. Words like 'Roflcopter' and 'Lmaonade' should be banned too :P

I say like a lot. I went through a terrible anti social stage where I wouldn't talk to anyone. Ever since, I've said "like" as a filler a lot because otherwise I just fumble my words up and sound far more annoying than when I say like.

I say "um" way to many times in my sentaces. It makes me feel stupid, but its been a tough habit to break. Sometimimes my mind will even go blank in the midle of a sentance, busy trying to remember a simple word that I was about to say. One time I was going through a metal detector for a football game, and the guard asks "Do you have anymetal on you?" and I reply "No, but I have some chang in my...." *Slaps pocket trying to remember what the pocket is called*. Its so embarrasing.
