Halo 3 Tournament Because making boys cry is fun

So of course all the guys in our class started flexing their gaming muscles and signing up for it. This is round about the time I came up with the idea of forming an all girls team and signing up as well.
Minor problem here (well...not a problem considering it's what I intended) Out of the 4 people on our team I am the only one who's ever actually gone near halo in any form, and that was halo 2 in which I grabbed a banshee for 5 seconds before driving it into a cliff.
Now this topic has little to no point other than this: We are guaranteed to play two rounds, even if we do suck, so the laughs that I intended should be had in that time. That being said, it would be even funnier if we actually managed to beat someone (especially since we're going to play up the whole sterotypical 'girls who hate videogames' thing XD).
So, do we stand a snowball's chance in hell? Like, is this game really about experience or will button mashing actually somehow achieve something. Worked for me in mortal combat <_<
So yeah, tell me if I'm an idiot, and when you're done with that, give me some pointers or show me in the direction of some sites like "halo for dummies" or something.
I loathe xbox. That is all u.u

What a waste of time.
Button mashing should do fine. You don't need any brain matter in your skull to play Halo.

And if it's your school, why the heck are they having a Halo turny and giving away 1500$?

It's possible that you could win a round or two, though that's definately dependant on how much of a real social life the other teams have. <_<

A player in MP has a grand total of 115 hit points (to adopt a common term.) 45 of these are body hit points, 70 are shield hit points. For reference, a single AR bullet does 7.5 points of damage, and a BR bullet does 6. A melee attack does 70 for most weapons, with some weapons (notably the Brute weapons) doing 72.
After your shields are drained and begin recharging, wait ten seconds before joining the fray. It takes that long for your 'invisible' health points to begin recharging.
If facing vehicles, use an overcharged Plasma Pistol.
Jumping is slower than running, so only jump-dodge if it's to get over a vehicle coming towards you.
And good luck!

and actually it's not schoolwide, my bio teacher is just a halo nerd so he heard about it and let us know.
I think it's city wide...if not city than provincial, but that's highly unlikely since it's being held in my little town of sherwood park, and the prize is only $1500 :D
still...free lunch, so sounds good to me :)

Skilled players will be able to kill you by looking at you. Bascially, you can't get within 20 feet of them. But that's just the 1337's, and if your town is small, you might have only one.

I don't really expect to win, just it would be so fricken funny if we did.
still skippy, have some faith, maybe the rpg gods that I pray to will talk to the fps ones and give me some super 1337ness for the day XD
now if it were a final fantasy or zelda tournament. hoho. they would be dead. Except...I don't quite know how that would work.

Anyway kate, I recommend you get your team to at least know the controls. Whenever I play Halo, I always have to ask what some button does, and then I'm dead.

-Stay together. If you go around in pairs, it's a lot harder for somebody to kill both of you because double the firepower is shooting back at them and they die faster.
-Dont be a coward. If you're on low health and you know the other guy has more health than you, try everything in your power to try and weaken them as much as possible, grenade them to death, empty a whole clip in their face and hope you kill them. If you run away when you have low health, there's no way you can fight back so you're probably screwed
-Dont use weapons you're crap with. If you cant use the Rocket Launcher to kill people, then dont use it. Just because it's powerful doesn't mean anything if you cant hit people with it
-Spread out a bit. Dont be attatched by the hip to a partner, because if they have explosives, then both of you can die. Stay a few metres away from your partner so you dont get blown up when they're attacked
- Psycological warfare works a LOT. Insult, insult, insult. Just make sure you have good comebacks or you're screwed :P
Thats about it. Have fun, and good luck :D

http://halowiki.net/p/Tips
That site will help you out.
And button mashing will not get you anywhere. In a beat 'em up like Soul Caliber or Dead or Alive it works, but in Halo you'll get slaughtered. Say if you're in a fire fight and you button mash, you might accidentally throw a grenade that completely misses and because of that time you spent not hurting them, they will have hurt you a lot more in that time. Dont button mash, it doesn't work in shooters.

honestly I'm just there for laughs, and so that we can talk big before the tourney, and as we're losing, make fun of the other players until they think we're crazy
i swear we're not psychopaths <.<
but there is a chance we could fluke out and win :)

Fluke and beat some trash-talking nerds, yes. :D. If you for some reason win, remember to give GSSF a shoutout.
