The problem with corporations like Starbucks and Walmart is they get rid of a lot of culture. Many "Mom and Pop stores" (stores that have high quality stuff, but can't afford the same low prices) are going out of business and the world is becoming so... uniform.

Of this I'm aware, but unlike Wal Mart, I don't see Starbucks taking from mom and pop cafes. I hope to own a cafe bakery myself someday, and you don't look at them similarly, Starbucks in an in and out coffee place, real cafes are more, sit down, have a cup of coffee, read the paper, have a scone... More about the experience than getting coffee in the morning. That's just my opinion, anyway.

I agree with you on Wal Mart, though.

True, though there's a nice place in our town called "Pop's in and Out" that's still in buisness, despite the two and a half Starbucks and the Wal-Mart Supercenter.

I think starbucks is its own culture. Personally it's my favorite place to just sit around and relax, and it has the whole coffee shop vibe. Sooo maybe not so much killing culture as creating a new one? I do agree that some small cafes are adorable and awesome, but somehow small places dealing with food are always...questionable in quality in my mind.
