hmm....good topic. I've wondered vaguely myself, but I pronounce it...well, pretty much the same way it's spelled. it's hard to explain in words, but I have a kind of subtle "D" before the "Jinn". it's like you start to say "Dinn", but then say "Jinn" before you get to the "I". I suppose you could say "Duh-Jin", but I say the "Duh" part more quietly, and not as a seperate syllable.

my apologies if that made no sense.

I should have sed Duh-Gin=singular Duh-Gin-E= Plural, Gin as in The beverage. Who knows how its sed  the word originates from Islam and defined as "An invisible spirit mentioned in the Koran and believed by Muslims to inhabit the earth and influence mankind by appearing in the form of humans or animals";) some guy ond GameTalk sed it was JUST jeenie spelt differently? I disagree with the Dee-Jinn :( but thats just me .I'm gonna say it my way only cause its the way I've always sed it ^_^ . Who knows maybe Dee-jinn is right?

1 day to beat TLA is long, for the GS maniac. 10 hours, maybe 11 is my running time. I have yet to see anyone beat it faster.

Ok. I kinda say it like 'Shin' but more like 's' and 'z' combined. I can't tell you on the internet.

The simplest way I believe is to ignore the “D” in the beginning, and pronounce the plural (djinn) like “gin” (with the soft “g” sound) and the singular (djinni) the same way with the added syllable at the end.

However, I guess what I do is to combine the “d” and “g” sounds together (that’s called a something-graph… dunno what it is exactly, sorry), so I pronounce the d in conjunction with the g… like…

Bah, it’s difficult to explain it, sorry.

The D is silent so it's just 'jinn' as in the alcoholic drink, the character from Tekken 3, the type of evil genie that warps peoples wishes, just watch wishmaster or something like that.

I pronounce it 'jinn' for two reasons:

                                1. I've seen it spelled djinn, jinn, and ginn.

                                2. Because I said so. :silence:

I personally pronounce Djinni (singular) like GENIE, and Djinn (Plural) like GIN.

I reckon that makes sense, seeing as they are kinda like genies.

It's definitely not like "gin". It's pronounced without the D. That's how.

The strictness of GSSF rule enforcement strikes again :).
It's spam to revive an old topic and it's spam to start a new topic on the same thing.

I still stick with my djinn. Pronounced with the 'd' and 'j' mixed. It's gin, but with an abrupt 'd' sound, like in dead. You don't actually complete the sound, more like, start with your mouth shaped for the 'd' sound, then change to the gin sound.

Anyone who understands what i just said gets a free mars bar ;).

Well i was always instructed t pronounce it D- jinni (duhjinni) but i think a lot of these things are down to interpretation. I mean i always pronounced Agatios name a-ga-T-io rather than "agashio" which would be iits more expected form. In games like this where there are a lot of odd names, i don't think it matters really.

The D is supposed to be silent, even the GS and GS:TLA strategy guides say the D is silent. But it doesn't really matter, d-jin-ee was how I said it for the longest time, anyway.
