However, I guess what I do is to combine the “d” and “g” sounds together (that’s called a something-graph… dunno what it is exactly, sorry), so I pronounce the d in conjunction with the g… like…
Bah, it’s difficult to explain it, sorry.

1. I've seen it spelled djinn, jinn, and ginn.
2. Because I said so. :silence:

Britannica World Language Dictionary, pg. 373
"djinni (ji-nee') n. pl. djinn: In Moslem mythology, an order of super natural beings able to assume animal or human form, and often at the call and service of men through some magical controlling object. The plural form is often erroneously used as a singular. Sometimes spelled jinni, genie. [<Arabic jinn-eye]"
There you have it.

It's spam to revive an old topic and it's spam to start a new topic on the same thing.
I still stick with my djinn. Pronounced with the 'd' and 'j' mixed. It's gin, but with an abrupt 'd' sound, like in dead. You don't actually complete the sound, more like, start with your mouth shaped for the 'd' sound, then change to the gin sound.
Anyone who understands what i just said gets a free mars bar ;).
