Far Cry 2

But seriously, this game is on the top of my "autumn games 08 "list.
And this kind of map editor is what Forge in Halo needs to be like.
Oh yeah, and if map editing is co-op, me and Tom are gonna have a lot of fun with that.
I seriously cannot wait for this game, it's going to rock so hard I might just go and masterbate over it.
No joke.
If this map editor will gain popularity as Halo's forge did, we are going to see some ****ing SICK maps online. Just the basic map the guy made looked incredible. Imagine how jaw-droppingly incredible some of these maps could be.
Looking at the end of that video, I just know this will win GOTY now.

Still, the vegetation brush looks a lot more natural and easier to use than in Sandbox. You can do the same thing in Sandbox, but this one looks more natural and dense.
I wonder if you'll be able to set up scripts and stuff for AI in FarCry's map editor? I'm having a hard time seeing that for console versions, will it at least be in PC versions?
Definitely getting this one day, though right now, SPORE is still highest priority.

I was supposed to assassinate some guy in this massive camp any way I saw fit. But because i'm not too familiar with the game and not confident to run in guns blazing (also because its difficult and I would DIE) so I crept around with my machete, going to the target, killing and then sneaking away before anybody noticed.

As far as looks, it's... interesting. The graphics are technically proficient, however, they aren't always conducive to gameplay. Jungles look waay too dark even during the day. I can't see the enemy at all as soon as they disappear into the trees and bushes, it's all too dark. I really hate how they took the "REAL = BROWN/GRAY" approach, unless you're in the savanna-esque areas (where the game looks the best in my opinion, almost as good as Crysis) it's all just a color scheme of brown and gray.
Another thing is getting around is also a royal pain in the ass... honestly, this is a game I wouldn't mind fast travel. =P
The game is also almost TOO sandbox. A few pointers in some sort of direction wouldn't hurt it all. I understand I'm supposed to kill some guy named Jackal but that's all I'm told. =P
Those things aside, the game isn't really bad. It's just very slow-paced. Even more so than Crysis. Not sure how long it'll keep my attention to be honest.

The best part of the game is planning missions in advance and just scouting around the place stealthily, trying not to be seen and working out the best way to tackle it.
As for the travelling, thats the worst aspect of the game or the best, depending on how much you enjoy just driving around and looking at the scenery. Unfortunately, bumping into cars every 5 minutes ruins this, so a lot of the time you have to run around off-road to avoid getting shot at by cars. This is very annoying, and the bus stations just dont cover it for fast travel.
Give it a while and see if you get into it.
Oh, and if i'm going to be nerdy(which I am), Jungles are supposed to be dark because the canopy and the emergents absorb 90% of the sunlight through photosynthesis, leaving only 10% for the undergrowth. That's why the jungle is dark.

The fire in the game is amazing, too, the way it spreads, looks, and affects the world. This is something I want to see in more games, not just in shooters, but in all kinds of games.
The physics are amazing. Everything about the game is technically proficient and will keep me coming back to it for a little while. Indeed, the game is fun for now, I just hope you're right that it'll get better. I just hope it isn't too repetitive, sort of in the way of Assassin's Creed.

What was your favorite Assault Rifle? I don't really see much difference between them other than to pick whatever weapon sights you like most...

The AR-16? I haven't unlocked that one but I'm about to. I've used it before anyway. Liked it.
I'd use snipers more but ammo for them isn't easy to find in the middle of a fire fight.
Is there a difference between the rifles though really?

And yeah, it's the AR-16. Good for headshots as it's got a green dot sight.
There's a golden AK-47 you can find which never degrades in quality, though it's exactly the same stat wise as a normal one. It's in Bowa-Seko, on the far east side, near some mountains. Here it is
Also if you buy the bandolier upgrades for each weapon, you usually get about 50-100% increase in ammo carrying. Well worth it, especially for snipers and SMGs.
On an unrelated note, my favourite tactic is to snipe out a few guys, then throw some molotovs to stir things up and run in with the Mac-10 and clean the rest up.
