Assuming you already know how to download them....

Most games you download via torrent will be split into "archives." You'll need WinRAR or 7Zip (I think 7Zip is far better, personally) to extract the .iso from the archive. From there you can either burn the .iso to a disk and install the game that way, or you can mount the .iso to a virtual DVD drive with Daemon tools.

After that, install the game and apply the hack as directed by the info file that should come along with the archive files. Sometimes the info file is archived along with the .iso.

Well the torrent I used for WCIII didn't need mounting in daemon tools, it just ran straight up which is weird but I'll be downloading more in the future so I'll keep all that in mind. I knew how to do it, I just forgot and needed my memory refreshed.

Was it just the normal setup program or did it come pre-installed into the ISO?

It sounds to me like it wasn't an ISO. Which is very strange.

Either that, or the ISO file type was already associated with Daemon Tools, and double clicking the ISO mounted it. Autoplay could've taken it from there. Just an assumption though.

I dont have daemon tools on here so I doubt it was that.

It was an .exe file so I'm guessing it just had its own player built in or something. Very efficient though.

Do you happen to own a Mac? Because Macs are able to read .iso's without the use of any mounting device.

If you download an ISO, mount with daemon tools and it'll autorun the setup. If you download a RAR, just open the RAR and run the setup.exe or whatever it happens to be called.

                      Reviving topic.

I downloaded Daemon Tools Lite and 7zip file manager, but I need someone to hold my hand through extracting the .iso, because I've never done anything like this before and am not very computer savvy.

do you have a zip file or the iso? if the zip, just extract it, go to the daemon tools icon in the bottem of your screen, and mount the iso. pretty simple. but, like pdm said, if the game is self contained it'll have an install exe, and you'll just us that to install it like everything else. hope that helps, i wasn't really sure exactly what you were asking.

Well, I guess I'm not quite done with this topic yet.
I'm about to go to bed, but before I do I want to make sure everything's in working order.
I mount the file into Daemon tools and it installs onto my computer ect.
I click on the icon, it pauses for a moment, and I get this message:
"Original disc could not be found or authenticated."
So, am I screwed, or what?

You need a crack. Usually there will be one in the .ISO. Right click on the .iso and click explore. In the folder the pops up there should be a .exe with a name similar to that of the game you downloaded. Copy that and go to C:\Program Files\where your game is located\Bin and paste it there. You'll know it's the right place if it asks you replace the current file of the same name.

                                    ███▓ ~ Run xlive_start to start the game ████
                                    #

but when i try to run the instal.exe, it says Windows can not access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the file. and avg says its a trojan, but that can happen sometimes right?

Cracks are usually mislabeled as trojans by antivirus software, so that's to be expected. Just make in exception for it in AVG so that AVG won't interfere with the cracking process.

As for the other problem, right-click > Run As > Administrator. Or maybe it was just right-click > Run As Administrator?

If you continue to have problems, right click on the file, go to properties, go to the compatibility tab, and check the box that says "run with administrative privileges".

I'm back at the appropriate computer this week. I downloaded a crack file and attempted to follow PDM's directions as best as I could. I don't know what I did, but eventually I got past that error window.
                                        Only to get stuck here:

I get to this point and then it just stops. Am I screwed now?

I've not got a clue what your problem is. Maybe you need to download the gamespy engine beforehand? /shrug

Fukit, I'll just buy the damn game. It's only $20 on Steam anyways.
