I just reformatted my computer after a virus prevented use of the internet. I saved 115gb of music/files, and I've reinstalled all of the drivers aside from the audio drivers. Which I can't get to work. No sound sux ballz.

There are other ways you could've handled that you know.

As for the audio drivers, what sound card do you have?

If you don't know, open the run prompt and type in "dxdiag"

I had that problem the other day. Might be an out of date driver, or just requires restarting before it works.

Hey, I just reformatted my computer too. Just 'cause I like to clean it every once in a while. I had an issue trying to get the internet hooked up, but obviously that's not a problem anymore ;]

also, if your computer comes with a software setup program that allows you to install all the factory drivers, you could start there and update them to current version. (what I had to do.)

Or you could just install the internet driver and download all of the up to date drivers once the internet is working.

If at all possible, don't install old drivers first.

It's on-board. They're realtek driver's that I need to install, I've found that out now. The reason is that I had SP3 before the reformat, and I reformatted with a disk with a lesser version of SP3 (or some shady version). Caused problems with the audio drivers. Don't know how to fix.

Well then, maybe you shouldn't have reformatted with a bad disk.

Well it's not like I realized at the time that it would be problem. I'm pretty sure this isn't a very documented glitch.

Well as long as the disk was good, you should have been perfectly fine if you reinstalled windows. As long as it was a fresh install and not a repair, there shouldn't have been a problem.

That said, I've repaired SP3 installations with a SP2 disc with no problems. All that had to be done was to install all of the updates and shiz.

Yeah, on my old computer (the one that is now my dads) there's an in-built realtek card and I had the exact same problem. Just use PCwizard to find out the exact model, then google drivers for that and download the latest version. It's what I did an it works perfectly.

Edit: Restart your computer after for good measure, even if it doesn't tell you to.
