I geuss I can't say I'm addicted to it, but it's pretty damn good. :D Hardcore Diablo fans will like it.
This is also the first RPG I've played for computer.
This game was first released in 2002, they have 2 expansion packs for it now, but I haven't bought them yet.
The graphics, especially the shadows, are amazing, but alas, the game doesn''t have extremely high-quality shapes, like, for example, the faces seem kinda square-ish rather than being round.

It's pretty long too, I've probably spent well around 10 hours on this game and I haven't even beaten the first Chapter, including the prelude, although I'm more than halfway done with the chapter now.
If you have not heard of this game's name you should be ashamed of yourself. <_< As this game totally rocks.

Anyway, here's what we know about it:
http://www.gamespot....hts2/index.html
Just to point out some of the major points previewed there:
- It's being developed by Obsidian, the creators of Knights of the Old Republic II.
- The single player campaign will be much better than that of the very first NWN campaign.
- There will be a new dialogue system, with a new "dialogue cam" that will make conversation more cinematic.
- The toolset will be more "user-friendly", supposedly it will even contain tutorials. Woo-hoo!
- We now have hills, instead of just the ugly, repeative cliffs. YES!! =DD
- There is a completely new rendering engine, which wastes that ugly tile look that alot of interiors had.
- And how does that engine look? See it for yourself.
- According to PC Gamer Magazine this game will be released sometime late spring.

Jokes
I'm just annoyed not hearing about NWN2 beforehand because I only bought NWN1 like...last christmas, and I've know about NWN and it's leetness since when it's release, i think 3 years ago. *can't do math* i have to say though, it's about friggin time they came up NWN2 >P.
You also can have three companions in NWN2 as opposed to the maximum of two in NWN1, More the merrier
This is one of the reasons why I say canadians are cool, they come up with great stuff like this :P
EDIT- FOUR years ago ><;; I keep forgetting this is 2006. Gosh it's been ages

And I believe that you could only have two companions (excluding a Familiar and a Summon for the mage classes) in Hordes of the Underfdark. But that's getting really detailed.
I hope you can make the set limit for party members a bit higher for when you make your own games though.
Have you ever played KOTOR2, kiku? The guys who are making NWN 2 made that game.

Actually NWN is the ONLY bioware game that I have played. I've been wanting to try baldurs gate for a while (yeh yeh I know it's old bla bla bla), just never got round to it :/

NWN 2 isn't developed by Bioware this time around. Instead, Obsidian is developing it, but Bioware is holding their hand along the way, basically.
And I want to play Baldurs Gate too!! But the only way you can get it is to buy it used, and I simply refuse to buy a game that someone else has used before me. (although admittedly, my friend gave me a his used copy of Black and White when I went over to his house today, but whatever XD)

It's NOT developed by bioware?? I always have a certain paranoia when other companies take over a game like that...I dunno, now I'm going to have misconceptions.
And buying used isn't all bad, I bought GS1 used *cheapskate*

I don't think Obsidian quite "took over" I think Atari (the publisher) simply handed the project over to Obsidian instead of Bioware, but that's not to say that they keep Bioware out of the project for good. I mean, the official NWN forums are still on the Bioware site, although that may have been more for the sake of the community than anything else.

I do believe the reason they have kept the forums at the bioware is for the community's sake. Wow come to think of it though, bioware should have some sort of an input otherwise the NWN1 and the NWN2 community will be split in that sense...
you know what's sad, nobody else DOES seem to have played NWN ; ;

What class(es) do you prefer? I myself found that a primary Fighter class and secondary Sorcerer class work well together. You get the best of physical fighting and magic that way. -_-

And the Wailing Death scenario was a bit lame, but I suppose it worked.
By the way, do you have a good guide to Dungeons and Dragons rules that you could link me to? (preferably the 3.0 and 3.5 rules)

I normally play as a ranger coz you can later on you gain animal companians which is always cool :(
I dislike sorcerers in that they take longer to gain spells so I guess I would opt for a wizard and fighter combo. That way the advantages of both magic and fighting is maxed.
I havent been playing the game that much ;) examzzz

Anyway, they added lotsa screens and stuff while you were gone, kiku.
http://media.pc.ign....385/imgs_1.html
If you don't like what you see, Obsidian claims that the screens were taken on a computer with low specs and had all the graphics turned down. =/ This isn't the final product, anyway. The final game should look better.
We have some gameplay footage, too.
