It's a modification called Gladnews 1.1 BETA. You have to configure a lot of PHP stuff first, then insert the script onto the index.php file. It's automatically pulls the first post of every topic in a selected forum (in this case, site news), and then displays it on the main page of the site. It shows the comments by echoing the amount of replies to the topic I'm pretty sure.

Eh, I prefer Fusion News personally. Gives you a control panel, easily add and modify users and their levels. Edits and delete news posts and comments etc. etc. Plus you can play around with the templates more, and more importantly, you don't have to **** around with a big PHP script.

Actually Agatio, GladNews is extremely easy to use. The only thing you have to set is the directory of the forum and the template of how you want your news to look (which is the same way you set templates in FusionNews). Then you get all the benefits of having it be a part of the forum, such as not having two sets of registered users (one for forum, and one for news comments), the ability to close and moderator the topics, and it brings people to the forum if they haven't been here before.

I know it is possible (look at vgmusic.com), but I don't know how. Do a google search on "phpbb news hacks/mods" and you might find something. I prefer IPB though.

Max, I know it's simple, I just prefer the control panel of Fusion News. As you can and edit users and everything from there. Gladnews is great, but if you want to have 4 people posting news, they would all have to be admins right?

Nope. You can specify indiviual users as moderators on individual sub-forums, so then that person would be able to post news. But I know what you mean, FusionNews or CuteNews or any of those popular news scripts are easier for most people because all the controls are centralized. I just like the fact that GladNews keeps everything tied into the forums so I only have to manage one place.

True. Fusionnews also CHMOD's the files for you. The only downside is having to go through the defaul temples which are always crap and invalid.
