Ok, so I have this D-Link Wireless router, and I know how to install it, and it works for my Win XP laptop, my dad's XP, and my sister's Ibook, but no matter what, it won't work on my mom's Windows 98. We've reset the router countless times and reconfigured it as much as we can, but no matter what, every time I plug it in then it works fine up until I have to restart it, and it freezes every single time that I restart it. It's a D-Link 923, and I've tried everything I can except technical support, and they have such insane hours that I can never reach them when I have time to work on it. Do anyone of you know what to do about this?

My windows 98 machine has trouble with the drivers for the wireless card. I'm guessing that's your problem as well.
You need to go to the website (D-Link) and check out support for Win98...

It's definitely a support issue for Win98. You could try looking for a firmware fix or helper that can make things better, but I doubt anything is out there. So it's best to just find a long ethernet cable and plug in to a nearby outlet....if you can. And if it doesn't cross a path :/

I remember something like this, I believe you have to go update something or install some additional Win98 component, much like the voice packaging already included in XP but not 98. I just can't remember what though...
Anyways, the easier solution would be to just install XP on the computer over 98. It's an upgrade, so no formatting, no loss of files. That's if you're comp can run it of course.

Its not a wireless problem, its wired. The wired Win98 doesnt like the wireless router, even through wires, and thats where I'm stuck.

I said it before and I'll say it again, it's a drivers issue. Let me see if I can find you the right ones:
What is your router exactly? D-Link 923?
http://support.dlink.com/
Go there and see if there are any support drivers for Win98.

I cannot believe the things that you can't do with Win98! I have so much software I want to try out but can't because of the limitations of our computer!
