Well, I think that Venus Skin should be the default...not that I like it the best or anything, but the main character of GS is Isaac, so I feel it will make the most sense.

Yeah, I sort of agree, and Venus is what I use, but I think that blue is just the generic default color of ANY website, so I think that having Mercury as the default (it is Mercury, isn't it?) works the best. Just my opinion, but...

Mercury was the default because it was there first (based on default IPB).

Because of the simple way you can change skins I don't think you need to change the default.

If we were still on the saem default site design, I would say yes, but with choosable site skins, there is no real need for a default skin other than Mercury, as it was the first, and is most generic.

Yeah. The Skin Selector allows you to change skins at will, easily. Your skin settings are store in your cookies so it won't matter anyways you a member.

And the Mercury skin is the most generic and default looking.

Ah maybe the default was mercury, but Venus resembles GS by far the best (like I said in my first post), so I think it will make sense it is the default skin.

yea i like mercury the best, it just suits it, but i'm using venus cos of isaac.

I agree with Gimli. I think that the venus skin, being the element of the main characters, should be the default one. although it may not be worth the trouble, and you can choose your own skin, anyway.

The only trouble of making it the defaul is clicking one little button in the Admin CP. Actually, I too think it should be made the default. As so many sites have the default IPB skins as thei defaul, it would set GSS apart from the rest, as this skin is exclusive to GSSF right?

I've been following this thread since it was first posted, but didn't want to post my opinion until after I had heard everyone else. I too agree that we should change the venus skin to the default, because the Mercury looks like every other IPB board out there. Plus, people have to register to get the skin chooser, but they may not register if all they see is the average default IPB skin.

So if I could just get 3-5 people to agree or disagree with me I'll make the final decision.

I never thought the look of the IPB default would turn people away so in that sense, I agree with you completely. If the change over doesn't have any effect on anything else, go for it.

Yeah, but that wasn't the reason why I think it should be default, I think it should because it definately resembles Golden Sun the best, especially the Isaac icons for the new post indicator, and the shade of brown/gold.

I agree with what Gimli has said; I think we should make the Venus Skin default because it best resembles Golden Sun.
