Well, IMO, this would make more sense, because if your 15th b-day was today, and you forgot to update your Age field so its still 14, well, it wouldn't make sense! ;)

You can just change the age yourself, Gimli.

Wouldn't it be a bit more convenient though, having it based on what you set for your B-Day?

Yeah, definately. I mean, true, you can change it yourself, but it would be more conveniant if it was based on the B-day.

I think thats just being lazy really, but again if it would be easy to do then its an idea. I agree with FGX though, its not like you couldnt take the extra 3 seconds to change it, You would only be doing so once a year.

Gimli, is it really necessary? We've got an age field so live with it

personally, I don't care. I don't even fill in the birthday field anyway. I do think it is a good idea, though

                  That's a little rude ...

It's not called being lazy, Ravenblade. It's called efficiency, in which, if you forgot that your birthday was a long, long time ago, and you forgot to modify your age, you'd be (in example) 13 forever.

Well if you think it'd be worth coding just incase someone forgot then sure. But unless the person doesn't come to the forum much, who would forget? Sooner or later you would be reminded and just change it.

No need to get nasty, i was just contributing an opinion, same as everyone else.

The admins didnt reply to this topic for a month so maybe they arent up for it?

But of course, its their decision...I dont think i ever suggested anything to the contrary...

I would hardly call that rude, I was just merely stating to be content with what we have got...I apologise to Gimli if he took any offence to that remark however.

And I have to agree with Raven here, if it isn't too much trouble then fine go ahead, otherwise I really don't care.

And there was no need to be "rude" like that either, I mean we have every right to express our opinions on matters, mods or not

I never said anything about you not having the right to express your opinions. I was only stating that the admins have to decide on this, but from the looks of it, I'd say that you were moderating this situation yourselves whether they do decide or not. You're people, too, so it's not like anyone's taking away your right like that.

You might've not called it rude, Kiku, but others will. I see that you've apologized, and that's alright anyway.

And we'll just have to wait for the admins to come by and read this so unless anyone has anything relevent to contribute, just leave the topic

RavenBlade, there'd be no 'coding' involved, I bet you I could find an age field that goes by birthday in a matter of minutes, no coding involved. Maybe a little copy paste, but..

-.-;;; ok then, If the admins want to input it then i have no objections - I was only thinking it isnt really necessary, but if you guys want it then by all means go for it. I'm not saying i would oppose it being implemented.

If it would be hard to code, I don't think it would be worth it. Even though it takes only like 15 seconds to edit your profile, I think it would be convenient if we had something like this.

First off, I just want to say that if you are a regular member here and remember when your birthday is, you shouldn't have a problem.

But you guys want it based on your birthday field, which is fine.

The way I have the profile fields setup is not a mod, it is all internal (via IPB). I can make the age field display your birthday date but I can't make it subtract it from the current date (And even if I could, I would have to change it everyday).

So at the moment, no, I can't do this, but I will look for a mod. for the boards that will do that.
