Recently I have been told my typing grammar is not up to par. So how bout putting on a grammar check system on the forums. I use it for reports and it is very useful.

      F-- see me after class!

I agree that this would be a good idea if possible.

        XD; Nicely done!

It's an interesting idea though, apart from the fact that American grammar seems to be different to English (and possibly other places). On MS Word i find myself constantly having to tell the grammar checker to ignore various grammatical ideas that aren't used here. Such as the word "which" in pretty much every compound sentence, and an overuse of commas.

But i'm being pedantic here. If it could be implemented then it would probably help a lot of our members.

A PHP script or extension that checks grammar? Show me that and I'll be speechless. Something like that, with so many rules and exclusions to them sounds like a VERY hard thing to do.

If you are unsure, run your posts through Microsoft Word first, thats what I do every now and again.

^ Agreed. I used to do that before we had a Spell Check. Generally, I'm pretty good with grammar, but anyway; alot of the members here have some pretty crappy grammar, so I'm for this idea if it could be done.

yes, but it would be hard to implement because grammar...is so vast.

Do this if you have time, otherwise members should just open up a word processor to check.

I think a Grammar check system would be too hard to put on the forums. I recomend you copy your posts, paste them on MS Word, and check the grammar. (But Agatio already said that)

I have yet to find any PHP script that has a database full of english grammar rules and exceptions.

Assuming you can spell properly and form a semi-coherent sentence, you should be ok, most of the time.

That is, if you know alot of good grammar without the Grammar check, like me. Well, kinda. O_o

Your continous irrelevent posting is getting way out of hand Gimli, next time I see you post something as pointless as that, I'll report you.

I'm sure this has been said, but this is a good idea, but where are you going to find something like that?

Well, right watch. A thing like that would by very complicated to make, or perhaps too complicated. There are tons of grammar rules....

[Off topic]- Agatio, no offence, but I don't see what was irrelevent, but if it was, I may have not known about, so can you please not bug me about it? O_o

Everyone, calm down. Agatio, if you see an off-topic post, you are supposed to report it and not say anything. If you respond like that in a thread again you will recieve a warning (and we will stop taking away your warnings).

But about the grammar check thing, that is pretty much impossible as far I am can tell. It would really bog down the server to run extensive grammar testing all the time, and I doubt anyone has even made an online script to check grammar, let alone one that integrates into IPB.
