I've mentioned this in topics before, but it never got noticed so I'll make a topic just for this.

I think the prune settings need to be adjusted. For example, the prune for spam is 30 days, I think it should be 14. Off topic's prune settings are 11 months. The introductions forum is 13 months. Other games is 8 months.

They are all over the place as you can tell. How about making a universal prune limit for all forums except the spam forum, and make the spam forum have a prune limit of 14 days. I'm not doing this because I dislike the spam forum, but because the spam forum gets the most activity, and therefor will take up the most space.

    Thanks.

While having those topics around don't use much resources or take up much space, we could prune the topics a little more.

This will be updated with the next few updates, if we feel a need to.

I don't think you have to make them all less, just make one universal stndard, rather than different settings for each forum. The only exceptions I think are spam and artwork.

Meh, I don't like the 14-day prune for SPAM, I think its fine is 30 days. 14-day is too strict IMO, and the Intro/Leaving should be 9 months. But I do like the Off-topic prune suggestion.

Spam should be set so low because it gets so many posts, and around 90% really mean nothing at all.
Artwork should be longer so topics stay alive, as members may want to revive them after a long time.

Well, yeah, that was a good point Agatio, so lets compromise what we think- Err, how about a 20-day prune? 6 more days won't hurt much, even though there is alot of pointless posts in SPAM.

Thats the reason it should be 14. 7 day cut off, and topics still remain for 7 more days after that. How many spam topics get revived after 14 days anyway?

Well, I don't think that much get revived after 2 weeks.

Then why on earth should the prune be 20 days then? 14 days is fine, even 10 days is ok, as nothing really gets revived after even a week, seriously. Spam topics are like dragonfly's. They have a very short lifespan, and during that lifespan a lot happens. But when they are dead they are dead, there is no reviving them. (hows that for a metaphore? =P ).

Niether of us have the power to change prune settings, so we'll have to site tight until Max or Nick sees this topic.

I have seen this topic and I am making the nessacary changes. -Nick
