But that doesn't mean the lyrics are intelligent, the songs are well written, or that he can speak proper english.

        NAS LYRICS

        Quote

        To love or to ****
I'm the thug that you want
If it's gangster we can't front
If you want me I can stay around
If you need me, I'm here for you
        How that sound?
        Now it's up to you
Depending on how you wanna get down
Cause you're a big girl now

        Quote

        Get yours nigga
        Cuz Imma get mine
        In due time
        Everybody gotta shine
        Get yours, I spray nines
        I say this one time
The last time, I swear to ya'll
        I'm from where
        The dope fiends is at
        And killas crawl

        OLD MAN'S CHILD LYRICS

        Quote

Wake up to another day in solitude
Awaken from a trance of despair
        Fear of the animal within
        Unleashed from emotions buried deep
        Forced into the human age
        Despite denial of life
        Devoured and concealed
        In flesh of mortal breed
Captives in dungeons of the flourishing society
Weakened by thoughts and mentally seduced
Redeem me my burden my father I await thee

        MARS VOLTA LYRICS

        Quote

        Do you recall it's name
As it suggested beck and call
        This face and heel
Will drag your halo through the mud
        Ash of Pompeii
        Erupting in a statues dust
        Shrouded in veils
Because these handcuffs hurt to much
        Still scalpeing these ticketless applause
And when they drag the lake there is nothing left at all
        sutured contusion
beyond the anthills of the dawning of this plague
        said I've lost my way
even if this cul de sac would pay
to reach inside a vault whatever be the cost
        sterling clear
        blackend ice
when they drag the lake there's nothing left at all

I think it speaks for itself.

Even if some of seem broken English they do carry out a good meaning IMO.

You need to really listen the music with some good beat. Kanye West is another rap artist with some good lyrics.

Speaking proper English is a point of view. Most Hip Hop is written for black people who understand what Nas and others are saying.

Oh and check out these lyrics:

            Quote

            One time.. yeah.. yeah..

Yo, all I need is one mic, one beat, one stage
One nigga front, my face on the front page
Only if I had one gun, one girl and one crib
One God to show me how to do things his son did
Pure, like a cup of virgin blood; mixed with
            151, one sip'll make a nigga flip
Writin names on my hollow tips, plottin ****
Mad violence who I'm gon' body, this hood politics
Ackowledge it, leave bodies chopped up in garbages
Seeds watch us, grow up and try to follow us
Police watch us roll up and try knockin us
One knee I ducked, could it be my time is up
But my luck, I got up, the cop shot again
Bus stop glass bursts, a fiend drops his Heineken
Richochetin between the spots that I'm hidin in
Blackin out as I shoot back, **** gettin hit!
This is my hood I'ma rep, to the death of it
'til everybody come home, little niggaz is grown
Hoodrats, don't abortion your womb, we need more warriors soon
Sent from the star sun and the moon
In this life of police chases street sweepers and coppers
Stick-up kids with no conscience, leavin victims with doctors
IF YOU REALLY THINK YOU READY TO DIE, WITH NINES OUT
THIS IS WHAT NAS IS BOUT, NIGGA THE TIME IS NOW!

Yo, all I need is one mic..
All I need is one mic.. that's all I need
All I need is one mic.. all I need niggaz
All I need is one mic.. yeah

All I need is one blunt, one page, and one pen
One prayer - tell God forgive me for one sin
Matter fact maybe more than one, look back
at all the hatred against me, **** alla them
Jesus died at age 33, there's thirty-three shots
from twin glocks there's sixteen apiece, that's thirty-two
Which means, one of my guns was holdin 17
Twenty-seven hit your crew, six went into you
Everybody gotta die sometime; hope your funeral
never gets shot up, bullets tear through the innocent
Nothin is fair, niggaz roll up, shootin from wheelchairs
My heart is racin, tastin revenge in the air
I let the **** slide for too many years, too many times
Now I'm strapped with a couple of macs, too many nines
If y'all niggaz really wit me get busy load up the semis
Do more than just hold it explode the clip until you empty
There's nothin in our way - they bust, we bust, they rust, we rust
Led flyin, feel it? I feel it in my gut
THAT WE TAKE THESE *****es TO WAR, LIE 'EM DOWN
CAUSE WE STRONGER NOW MY NIGGA THE TIME IS NOW!!

All I need is one mic.. that's all I need, that's all I need
All I need is one mic.. there's nuttin else in the world
All I need is one mic.. that's all a nigga need to do his thing y'know
All I need is one mic..

ALL I NEED IS ONE LIFE, ONE TRY, ONE BREATH I'M ONE MAN
WHAT I STAND FOR SPEAKS FOR ITSELF, THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND
Or wanna see me on top, too egotistical
Talkin all that slick ****, the same way these bitches do
Wonder what my secrets is, niggaz'll move on you
only if they know, what your weakness is I have none
Too late to grab guns I'm blastin cause I'm a cool nigga
Thought I wouldn't have that ass done? Fooled you niggaz
What you call a infinite brawl, eternal souls clashin
War gets deep, some beef is everlastin
Complete with thick scars, brothers knifin each other
up in prison yards, drama, where does it start?
You know the block was ill as a youngster
Every night it was like a, cop would get killed body found in the dumpster
For real a hustler, purchased my Range, niggaz throwin dirt on my name
Jealous cause fiends got they work and complain
Bitches left me cause they thought I was finished
Shoulda knew she wasn't true she came to me when her man caught a sentence
Diamonds are blindin, I never make the same mistakes
Movin with a change of pace, lighter load, see now the king is straight
Swellin my melon cause none of these niggaz real
Heard he was, tellin police, how can a kingpin squeal?
This is crazy, I'm on the right track I'm finally found
You need some soul searchin, the time is now

All I need is one mic.. yeah, yeah yeah yeah
All I need is one mic.. that's all I ever needed in this world, fuck cash
All I need is one mic.. fuck the cars, the jewelry
All I need is one mic.. to spread my voice to the whole world

Read those. Take them into context. They are meaningful and IMO, a great song.

I'm not going against Rock or Pop or Techo or anything else; I listen to all genres of music if it's good music.

I'm just saying that real Hip Hop doesn't deserve the bad reputation that it gets based on 50 Cent and others.

I agree with you there. MTV, this may sound lame, corrupts the minds of young people by "spoon feeding" them music. If Kayne West hadn't become popular, Eugine wouldn't have mentioned him. If for the last 10 years death metal had been all over MTV and the charts, people would love Cannibal Corpse amd Six Feet Under.

I have no patience to go look for music so yes, I'm guilty of that MTV corruption.

Yes, I personally don't like 50 cents neither. I think he really brings down the reputation of the decent rappers by disgracing women and such, but they are some good Rap artists.

Kanye West, Jay Z, Outcast. Just to name a few I got of MTV

I've got to admit, their lyrcis just don't hold up, most of the time it's offenisve, crude language or something to the point where i'd be ashamed to listen to it with older generations nearby.

For the record, i find my own music, i'll admit, if there's something on the radio or Mtv etc and i like what i hear i'll listen, but they always ALWAYS over play the good stuff.

Lol, just about what I think.

Interviews... The interviews with certain people are annoying. AS follows:

Eminem(randomly something he's probably said): Main(man), my rhymes(lyrics) is tight(cool) foo, we gone(are going to) add some beats off da computer(probably said com com  ), and we gone rap all night, yo.

Underoath: We do what we do because of our faith.

                          Simple.

I think rap needs to have lyrics that don't change what they are talking about. Like

Baby, I want to hold ya tight
I got shoty by the popo's cuz i'm smoking
And all of the time, i was getting drunk on spiked egg nog.

Not really lyrics, but you do understand what I am saying, right? I just don't like how rap "sings" theif lyrics, or how they right them.

                            Woohoo! Ignorance alert!!!

Have you ever heard a full, uncensored interview with Enimen (who again, is now singing Hip Pop)? Listen to an interview with Jay-Z, Nas and KOS - to name a few - they are very intelligent.

Oh and it's Mayne (man), not Main.

                              That's Izar  .
Eminem is hillarious in real life, and a whole lot more intelligent than any other rapper I have seen (Nelly for example).

                                Okay, so I lied, I voted (e).

now that I'm aware, even thousand foot krutch has some rap songs, and I do kinda like "mocking bird" by eminiem. but otherwise, hip hop drives me insane. especially thats what all the preps at my school listen to.

I think Eminem is the best rapper because he doesn't just sing about smoking weed and getting women. Instead he raps about how he's pissed about everything going on around him.

                                    WRONG!

The best rapper ever is Tupac followed closely by Biggie Small. I listen to alot of rappers and Tupac is really good, he discusses EVERYTHING.

                                    Also Enimem albums are this:

STFU Kim, I own Haley, you *****! Get a like. etc. etc.

You people don't know what is rap :P

Try Edo Maajka from Bosnia. You will not understand a word, but the music is fine. His homepage is here. Search for clip Prziii, it rules :D
