Er ... despite the title, I think there should be a forum for people that want to discuss the properties of animation (not really artwork), and show off their work in the prospect. Mainly Flash movies and games, or .GIF animations, would be appropriate.

I suggest this since I wanted to post a topic about a game I'm going to make in Flash, but I didn't know which forum to post that topic in, and I didn't want to clutter up the Artwork forum in that way.

I personally think this is a great idea; flash animations aren't exactly "art", (unless the pictures in the animation are drawn).
Let's hope that this suggestion doesn't get ignored. :D

Well, a "Graphics" section would be great, but for now, I think that a flash game would go in the techie's corner. But, a graphics forum would be gr-rreat.

There simpy aren't enough people here interested in Flash. I can only think of 3 (Me, You, Max). And Flash is artwork. ANyone who thinks art is restricted to only images is a narrow-minded fool.

Art = Music, Literature, Poety, Animation, Games, Images, Paintings etc. etc.
Anything with an inkling of design IS art.

Well, I would say that Flash forum is a good idea, but on the other hand, Agatio is completely right that in a way, it IS art.

Well... if it IS a game it should be posted in the other games forum. But I also think that there should be a seperate forum for Flash...

Indeed. Just because it's art doesn't mean it has to clutter up the Artwork forum.

The Artwork forum was meant for CG, 3D renders, traditional pencil-and-paper art, etc. Animation and Flash is a different story. It can be a masterpiece, but it moves. CG and traditional art just stands still, but still can show its own unique style.

Compare just taking a picture and adding sound to it (nothing more), and having Flash. The picture doesn't move, yet there's sound still going on in the background, and that can cause confusion. Flash, on the other hand, tells a story or entertains someone to a certain extent. Pictures are just for looking at and critiquing. It can be put up on a wall for decoration. Flash you can't.

So, they both may be art, but they're still different in their own ways.

I am interested in it, I just downloaded the trial, exept I can't figure out how to use it.

It's complicated at first, thats where my book came in handy.
You're probably best finding a good tutorial site (kirupa.com), and working your way through the lessons.

I'm interested with Flash, but it hasn't been working for awhile, along with Fireworks, and photoshop.

I think that a forum for stuff flash related, etcetera would be nice.

Yes, I read your post. That's fine if they post it in their own topic, but, a Flash forum just sounds more solid. I'm not trying to be superficial here, honestly.

CBK, we are taking it into consideration, it just takes some time. We (I at least) read every topic in this forum as every new post is made. I am just not sure of my opinion at this time, which is why I have not posted earlier. I will talk to Nick tonight and we'll come to a decision.

As Max does, so do I [read every post in this forum].

I have no posted on it yet for two reasons:

1) I have no talked to Max about it yet; I cannot give a secure answer (which leads to whining).

2) I myself don't have an opinion on this yet. While it would sort things out, it would also give a whole new forum to a focus which wouldn't generate many topics (by different people).

For the time being, if you wish to discuss the technical aspects of Flash(And Animation), perhaps a topic in the Technology and Computer forum would suffice?

Which is fine. I didn't mean to rush you guys in the sense, so, you'll have all the time you'll need to figure out what you'd want to do with this suggestion. At least I know you did actually see this, and that I'll have to be patient next time, I guess.

If you really want a good place to post and recieve comments on your Flash work, go to www.deviantart.com. You can upload your Flash work there, recive critique from other Flash users, all in a nice friendly environment =) .
