Well, I just checked GSR and the admin, Cinder, informed us that these forums, GSS (us) and GSAR (I dunno what this is. are merging together in one? well, please give me certainty.

The real problem is that the GSRF have too many old dudes who keep cussing there.... this will be really bad...

GSAR just moved to it's own server and domain after being hosted by Max.
They offer hosting and a ton of other stuff, we won't be merging with them.
As for GSR, they use Phpbb and gamespy boards, I don't see how we could merge.

Hm, it appears Cindy posted my proposition on her forum... Yes, it is an idea, and I hope something will come of it. When we reach a conclusion it will be on the site news.

Max, to be honest, I don't think it's a good idea. the GSR forums and our forums differ very much, not only the looks, but also the members. I don't think these members will get a friendly band with their members.

How can you merge our forums when they run on totally different software?
Or would it just mean one closing and one site linking to the forums that remain open. if this placed closed, consider me gone :ph34r: .

P.S: I don't think it's a good idea, Neo Genisis said, the people are way different, they kinda cuss a little, and they are older. And they barely even like Golden Sun.

I think it will be something like http://www.pokecommunity.com and Agatio the site could merge, Invision has this converter software (not sure if its free). So GSR will just be converted to IPB then they merge.

I really don't know how to think but I kinda like the idea, and who cares if they cuss, if they do just do it right back but don't take it into a long cussing championship. An dyou maybe right about not many of them like goldensun but there are still a lot of em like me for example.

Justy for reference, GSAR will never merge with another Golden Sun website. GSAR is up for specific plans to incorperate other websites, but none Golden Sun-related. So, I await a proposition.

I think it's an OK idea (to stop the dying of the sites' forums), but I've no idea how the (phpBB) database from GSR can be converted to IBP without screwing.
And a question: what would happen to users that have the same username here as in GSR? Would the accounts & posts counts be merged?
(off topic, but this is one of the last posts I'll nake for a pretty long time, for those who have already seen my topic)

Nobody, both use Mysql, and store posts etc. in the DB, so all it would need is a converter. Though it must be pretty friggin complex 0.o.

If it's a merge with their Gamespy forums (Golden Twilight) then that's cool since they used to have a ton of great members a year ago when I used to hang out there regularly. I hear most of the regular left though.

If it's with hteir phpBB forums, I know alot of people are going to leave when the assholes from that forum illegally imgirate over here. :ph34r:

I just had a browse through the topic on GSR. Here's my "bit":

There would be flame wars, it's inevitable. Merging 2 or 3 separate communities that have been around for over a year (and in GSR's case eve more) is just not smart. The word "veteran" would become meaningless, people wouldn't know people from other forums, it would just cause chaos among members. We are better left alone.

As for there members being "stupid n00bs and flamers"; every forum has people like that, even this one at times. Having prejudice against them because of a few members is just retarded.
