Adware and spyware has a negative affect on the internet, and that affects EVERYONE on here. There should be legislation so that offenders who infect personal computers can be prosecuted. They already arrest people for hacking and sending out viruses, and spyware is no different.

Don't have the 'we can't make a difference' attitude, because anyone who uses the net often hates spyware and doesn't want it. And that's easily a quarter of the American population right there that could sign on to this petition.

So sign on and pass this around!

Done. Good find Andross, I hope everyone on this forum has the brains to sign that, I'll post it over at Neverside sometime as well, if it hasn't been already.

This is one of the few rational petitions I've seen. I shall go and spread the word.

I signed it, because I HATE spyware. I use Microsoft Anti-spyware and recently I found one on my computor, and I also found out that my computor was at a high risk of my information being given out. Thanks Microsoft for saving my identity :agitated:

lol, using a Microsoft product to remove spyware, good luck with that :agitated: .

What I use is Zone Alarm coupled with Firefox, and Norton Antivirus. And then perhaps a re-format ever so often. That works a treat.

Microsoft Anit-Spyware is one of the best Anti Spwares that i've used. It tells you when a program is trying to add itself to your menu, and when there is a Spyware on your computor, it deletes it and also makes a copy of it and puts it in Quarantine, so that you can decide what to do with it. It also tells you when Microsoft has an updated version and allows you to download new spyware defenitions and other stuff. Its pretty good.

You have a very limited knowledge of anti-spyware programs - their program doesn't have anything special about it, for one. Quarantines, deletions, updates, and alerts aren't in anyway a 'new thing on the block.' That's been around since the beginning of the "spyware wars."

I already mentioned other stuff in a different topic, so I won't bother repeating myself.

I posted this on two tech boards and 1 social board at gamefaqs. It should get enough signatures now.

EDIT: Just a note; the signature count was 1812 when I posted it on Gamefaqs.

Actually Andross, You miss understood what I was saying. I have used diffrent types of Anti-Spyware, but out of all of them I like Microsoft Anti-Spyware the best, and I was naming all the things it did. So next time, why dont you re-read the post, before you insult someone.

You put your statement in such a context that you were making it sound as if MS had all this stuff that others didn't have - which makes it sound as if you don't know much about anti-spyware programs. I read your post, and no, it did not say to me 'I have used a lot of different programs.'

1886 total signatures the last time I checked (just now). Let's let this go up alot. How many signatures are actually needed?

I have no unearthly clue, but that's certainly not enough. I think the only way to make a blip on the radar screen would be to try for 10000 - the main problem behind the petition is that there isn't any viral internet marketing campaign behind it
