    while in nigeria we got shot at while in our car. Luckily (or in some peoples cases unluckily) the only hit our car with a pellet from a pellet gun. We made it out alive. And Luckily the pellets almost it the car's wheel. but thats not the worst. Then later on while we were driving we came to a police stand to report what happened. then the head guy the leader came out of his house, wearing a towel. he comes up and the 'weaker' police man says "give him a gun! give him a gun!" The give him a powerful rifle and he ****s it ( pits in the ammo making the noise: chk chk!.) Then the man wearing a towel shouts" GET OUT OF HE CAR all OF YOU GET OUT NOW!" Then the preformed a full body search on dustin then mom says" Please put the gun down this is my son 14 this is my son 12." and keeps repeating Rewind a bit..... he says you look ruff you look ruff. aunt being her brave usual self says " We look ruf WE look ruff?! LOOK AT YOU HOLDING A GUN IN A TOWEL THREATENING US! AND WE LOOK RUFF?!!!!" Soon he let us go back in the car and we drove off fast.

    Pretty scary huh?

      Nigeria, like most African nations, has only just come out of a tumultuous military rule (dictatorship more than likely). Not surprising, but yes, scary . . .

          o.o; Many people I know have canceled their trips to come here for fear of that kind of thing happening. It doesn't happen unless if you go to the more criminal areas, obviously.

            Yeah it's a shame this kind of thing goes on...I can't really see any solution to it though..not without charging in and overthrowing a few governments but that really isnt an option. I have no clue what they should do about it. More money wont help, it'll just make people more bloodthirsty and more corrupt =/

              You just need: patience, time and a couple of smart leaders.

                    I'll take a wild guess and say happy town.

                    Sounds like a tough encounter, CR.

                      I dont think there is such a thing as a smart leader in the sense you're referring to. They need a genuinely "good" person rather than a really clever politician who can bend everything so that he/she remains in power. But they always keep the good eople down because you don't get power by being a "good" person - you get it by being evil.

                        Trust me, we have no smart leaders in Nigeria. There all power hungry jerks, but maybe we might get one every now and then.

                          I didn't mean a political leader e_e;;

                          My country is what it is now because of...I'll put it as "Educational Leaders". They were just scholars who did their best to encourage development (of the people as people and of the nation) as much as they could.

                                    Wow. That's me homeland you all are talking about. Well, my parents were born there but I was born somewhere else. I wasn't born in Canada or Africa. I lived there for about 2 years before I moved to the great C. Props to Canada.

                                    Anyways, forgetting the life story here I can understand what they were doing since I am guessing that you are not from Nigeria or that they just found you suspicious. Stuff like this happens in third world countries all for the reason of safety and other crap. Just be happy that they didn't go to far more extremes when they searched you. Trust me I've heard my parents stories.

                                      My parents also tell me stories, that the police ( in Nigeria) can stop you for no reason, and tell you that you can't pass, until you give them money. I've also had an experience when I went there
