    [rumour]

The Wii will be released in September...

    http://www.gameshout.com/news/nintendo_con...article6528.htm

I'm freaking shocked, the PS3 will therefore be the LAST console to be released!

    [/end rumour]

It's not like it'll affect the overall popularity of the PS3.

Assuming it's true, which it looks like it is.

Downloadable DS demos? Sweeeet. I forgot about that feature. *huggles DS*

Satoru Iwata, on Jun 7 2006, 02:09 PM, said:

When the size of the hardware increase, the sound of the fan gets annoying and the development costs soar. Services like Wii Connect 24 cannot be developed. In short, I think the balance is important.

Does that mean there won't be Wii connect 24? I'm geeting confuzzled.

Basically, if your Wii is connected to the internet, it can communicate with the internet even when it is off. This allows for constant updates almost every day.

                  OHH I get it. It's connected 24 hours a day. =D

Bleah that would be cool, but I don't see it as a necessity.

What I don't get is when Iwata said "the balance is important". What balance? Mr. Iwata needs more "eengrish" lessons.

Well, to get automatic updates daily, whether you've played that day or not, you'd need Wii connect 24.

He didn't say that the Wii wouldn't be able to connect to the net, he just said it might not be able to be online 24/7.

That rumour is false. Nintedo recently stated that the Wii launch date would be revealed in September, not launching the console then.

EDIT: Ok, so it says it will reveal the launch date 'by' September. But that sort of implies that September will be a month or two just before the system's release.

Probably a good estimation of when it will launch:

All we know is that the system's launch date will be known by the time september rolls around. That is all. Could mean that it's before September, could mean it's after.

September/ winter is a good time to release a games console, as ovioudly, chritmas will soon follow. Also, when it's a console as popularas the wii, then it's sure to sell even more.

Slightly off topic: You could make this topic into a game, each person guesses when it will be released, and the closest peron when it is announced wins a cookie.

And of course consoles are released in Fall. You didn't seriously believe that BS that Sony would have a spring launch for the PS3 when you first heard it, did you? The last console/handheld released in Spring was the Gameboy advance. Actually, the PSP was released in Spring in the USA and Europe, but it was released in Japan in Fall.

Not only do I think this is false, but I also think it wouldn't be a very good idea to release it in September. Many of the games that are supposed to be launched with the console might not be ready for a September release. I think the Wii will probably be released maybe 20 days before the PS3.
